7-0 LA. Umm, really not much I can think of to say. I think we might be in for a year very similar to last year.

Re: The 2006 Pittsburgh Pirate Thread
Barf...this team is painful to watch. I don't know what it is, but anyone who comes to the Pirates takes stupid pills or something.
If Cota starts tomorrow, I'm going to drive to PNC Park and throttle Tracy. I know Doumit looked bad in his last game, but he's a young player. With Cota, we already know what we're going to get with him (very little).“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. Re: The 2006 Pittsburgh Pirate Thread
Most of Ryan Doumit's catching for the near future will happen in the bullpen.
Pirates manager Jim Tracy made clear yesterday he was not satisfied with Doumit's defense and, as a result, plans to start Humberto Cota more often than not. Cota has started five of the first eight games, including the past three.
GAG.
I hope you gassed up tonight LGP, it's a long trip from NYC to PNC.Comment

Cota has also given up 6 stolen bases so far out of 7 attempts. Doumit 0 (1 attempt, 1 guy got gunned down).Comment

Re: The 2006 Pittsburgh Pirate Thread
It probably has to do with Doumit coming in and having the passed ball and wild pitch in that awful inning against Cincy.
Of course, that had nothing to do with Doumit coming in cold off of the bench and not having any real pitches to warm up on.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. Just thought I'd like to chime in here, but it's good to see Ollie back with the jersey number that he had when he first broke into the league.Comment

Re: The 2006 Pittsburgh Pirate Thread
this is how the pirates need to play games the rest of the year to pose any kind of semblance to a real baseball team. although they got behind early again because of their pitching, they battled back and didn't give up. execution was key. as my man bob walk said, when you have a runner on third with less than two outs, he has to score by any means necessary.
where is our starting pitching? this is starting to get rediculous. its just been bad start after bad start now for almost the first 2 times through. hopefully maholm can show something tomorrow.
gonzalez looked fantastic in his fifth major league save. im not sure that he even threw 10 pitches. this was so refreshing after seeing joe table's antics for 2 years. i really hope gonzo pans out.
i think we'll still come around if our pitching gets it together soon. we need to win tomorrow and start to slowly win series'. win 2 out of 3, then 4 out of 7, 6 out of 10, and start to climb back toward .500. i just can't believe that this team is really as bad as we've seen them in the first 9 games.Last edited by pncbucs; 04-11-2006, 09:31 PM.Comment

I don't get it. I'm so frustrated with Ollie and the coaching staff (this year and last). Why try to change a guy who dominated just for an extra
few innings of work? That is why they changed him. They didn't want him to have thrown 110 pitches by the 5th inning (although he typically dominated those 5 innings). Instead they get a guy who hasn't thrown that many pitches, but doesn't have dominating stuff anymore.Comment

I'm pretty sure FBL owners will start snatching this guy up pretty soon.Comment
