Hard to believe Horst's ERA was under 2 last season.

Probably the best of the 4 games v. the Marlins, whom they should sweep. Decent test for Pettibone today. Nolasco is a good 3 for most other teams. Is it me or does Delmon Young just seem so out of place.

Good night for the kid again....he's really shaping up. Also a good night with both the Braves lose (especially like they did!) and the Nats as well.

If the Phightins can complete the sweep we'll be back to .500. ATL is on a 3-game skid so this is a prime opportunity to close the gap.

This cannot turn into a year of trying to correct the Doc Halladay problems so that he has 2 good last outings of his career.

But then again, last I checked, if you score ZERO runs in a game, you will lose.

In the Braves broadcast today they were talking about the last calendar year for Doc (one year ago today he had the start where the Braves came back and won on Chipper's homer). In that year, his ERA has been over 6+, his IP/start has dropped from 7+ to 5+, and his HR/9 has doubled.

Sad to see what he has become...

NOW they announce shoulder problems. Not after the good outing....after the drubbing.

Adam Morgan pitched yesterday too, so I'm guessing it's likely he gets the call. They'd have to make a 40-man roster move though. Could be Tyler Cloyd too.

Man, if Pettibone can keep it up and if Lannan can come back and be serviceable, who knows? My concern is that Pettibone may start getting figured out by opposition. I have to watch him more closely for the variety of his stuff, but he is sporting 4 pitches. Man, if Chooch gets on a roll as well, look out.

Re: Home of the Philadelphia Phillies

^^I am not as optimistic as you. This team is showing me nothing.

Offensively they have a sub .300 OBP as a team, 27th in the league.

They have the 2nd most quality starts of any club, but one of the worst bullpen ERAs and bullpen in general.

Defensively they are ok I guess, somewhere in middle of the pack.

They would need to acquire another bullpen asset and as it stands a 3rd starter-quality pithcer. They have nothing in the farm system, and I don't see teams lining up out the door for John Mayberry or one of their corner outfielders that are in abundance on this team.

So with that said, this just seems like its going to be a down year, a mediocre year, no postseason, and one which we may see the Phillies being sellers at the deadline moving the likes of Cliff Lee, Chase Utley, and who knows what else to re-stock the farm.

Living in the DC/MD area I am hearing that the O's have a signifcant interest in Utley who is an UFA at the end of the year...

I am holding out hope that there could be some miraculous turn around, but as the losses continue to mount and the play is mediocre at best I dunno....

Great comeback in the late innings by the boys today. I like the fight I'm seeing late in games.

Was hopin they could get back to .500 today but a disappointing home loss to the Tribe, and Utley goes 0fer after receiving day off. Geez...what is Hamels' deal this year?!?
