Because someone has to play the outfield with Ben Revere and Domonic Brown out. More than just being a waste of money, Nix has been a waste of a roster spot for the Phillies this year, hitting .188 with a total of six RBI in 112 at-bats. A less stubborn GM would have released him months ago. Ruben Amaro, though, signed him for two years and, by golly, is going to keep him the whole time.

Laynce Nix made his second straight start Thursday and went 0-for-4 against the Cardinals.

I think he needs to shut up. Yeah, he makes a point to an extent, but at the same time we would have 5 more wins if he didn't blow 5 saves in a week's span last month.Comment

Re: Home of the Philadelphia Phillies
Not to rub anything in (I am a Cub Fan after all, lol), but WTH Ruben Amaro? Everyone saw this coming, and with the Phils getting thumped by the Braves again tonight and losing series to the Mets, Cards (sweep), Tigers (sweep), Giants, Braves (sweep), Nats (sweep), and Braves again in the past month, they're now 14 under .500. Yeah, I know they took 2 of 3 from the Cubs...no great prize there.
Was it really worth it to keep Michael Young and Carlos Ruiz for the rest of THIS lost season, and J-Roll through 2015 I ask?? Seems like keeping Lee, Hamels, Brown, and Utley and dealing basically everyone else (Papelbon, Rollins, Young, Ruiz, Bastardo, Halladay) would've made a lot more sense. Is there something I'm missing here?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment
