Don't baseball fans want to see guys like Chase Utley make a run at one of baseball's most impressive records? You know, guys that play the game the way it should be played?

I dont, mainly because Im a Yankees fan and dont want to see any more Yankee records broken. With all the roid heads destroying the homerun record its been annoying to see our heros be over-taken by cheaters. I know Chase isnt a roid head or a cheater and yes he plays the game right, but hes no Joe D. I guess I wouldnt have minded seeing it go a little further though, like maybe 40-50 games.

I love that a Yankees fan resurrected this thread to **** on Chase's run at one of baseball's great records. Meanwhile Chase is a good kid who plays the right way, while his streak was nothing but good for the game as it draw attention to baseball in much the same way (on a much lesser scale) McGwire and Sosa did during their run at Maris.

This after Mets fans booed Chase last night and cheered wildy when he K'd in the 9th inning. Great baseball fans, those New Yorkers.

That Santa Claus incident is probably the most overpublicized, overdramatized non-event in the history of sports fandom. The real Santa failed to show up that day and the Eagles had to recruit some drunken, skinny kid out of the stands to strap on a fake beard and run around in the Christmas Pagent out on the field. The fans didn't boo Santa, they booed possibly one of the worst "Santas" you'll ever see.

Just as we boo players on the field who don't meet our standards, so do we boo Santas who don't meet our standards either.

                    Re: 2006 Philadelphia Phillies Thread

Pretty bad series this weekend. They should have taken 2 out of 3 against the Reds this weekend.

The team is looking to get a little tired. Utley's performance is starting to drop against left handed pitchers. He had chances in the past two games to make significant contributions in the late innings, but failed to do so. Gordon is starting to tire from overusage.

On the other hand, Nunez is starting to come around. I'd really like to have him be our starting 3b next year , provided that he can play at an average level. We have too many other holes that need to be filled.

Rowand needs to go, How a CF can have a .320 or so OBP is amazing. I admire his hustle and grit, but enough is enough. I hope they can deal him in the offseason, but again, they might need to take on some salary. Victorino is perfect for the position. Gillick really needs to catch some other GM cheating on his wife so he can get rid of Burrell. One of the worst, longest swings I've seen in my life. His lack of performance in the clutch is fustrating to say the least.

All in all, it should be an interesting rest of the year. If nothing else, this team is fun again to watch. If they can shed some more weight, it would be even better. I'm optimistic for the rest of the year. If they can finish 3 or 4 games above .500, I'll consider it a success considering how they started.

Big series this weekend coming up against the Nationals. The Phillies have traditionally faltered in series like this, where they beat a top tiered team and then have a lesser opponent coming up.

Hopefully they'll use this as an opportunity to rest some of their key players. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but it appears that Utley is getting tired. He was really struggling against various lefties during the past two weeks.

Moyer is a tremendous upgrade over Mathieson. Hopefully, it works out.

37 of our remaining 40 games are against teams with a record below .500.

You guys need Gordon back badly. And can someone tell Manuel to make up his mind, he brought Madson out and because Francouer singles he puts Rhodes in right away, doesn't make sense. Should've stuck with Madson, especially considering Rhodes preceeded to give up the GW HR. Whats the timetable on Gordon?
