      Re: 2006 Philadelphia Phillies Thread

I refuse to believe it as I think it's just a big ploy by the Phils to say "hey, we tried", but supposedly our Phils will be in the thick of the Soriano courting.

I would not mind, though if we instead went for Aramis Ramirez and Jason Schmidt.

But again...this is the Phillies we're talking about

            Replacing Lieberthal with Piazza.

Piazza is 38 years old. Lieberthal is 34.

It's like a B-rated version of the Twilight Zone.

Can't a Braves fan and Phillies fan get along?

Oh wait... yeah I'll leave the thread.

SHOULD be a 3 team race to the end. Phillies have the better rotation, Braves seem to have the best bullpen, and the Mets have the best offense. Although all 3 have a good offense. Anyway, should be a fun year.

Two teams. Phillies and Mets. The Braves aren't a part of the discussion.

If you're talking to me.....I'm not too happy. Glavine should be his usual dependable self...nothing to great and certainly NOT an ace in my book, but I think Maine and Perez will emerge. Maine could be very good and Perez does have some crankin' stuff. If Peterson can mold them....they will be fine. I'm not counting on Pedro at all....so I see Minaya making some sort of deal for a front line starter. From the looks of it...it won't be Willis

What will matter most is the Met bullpen...and I don't see how you can say(not you Sully, just in general) the Brave pen looks nasty when we have two great righthanders and two great lefthanders just waiting to get into the game and take out the opposing clubs biggest threat for the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings. Sanchez is the real deal......Heilman is downright filthy(and finally realizing that he will be the pens best man) Feliciano has some really nice stuff and Schoenweis hasn't had a lefty hit a homerun off him in three years. Then comes the 5 foot nothing heart attack(that Philly fans know well) but I still say he's too nasty to just dismiss.

Now.....I know you were being sarcastic in your question......but I'm feeling okay about the staff...especially the pen(which with the amount of complete games...is going to be more important than the starters in the league IMO)

What I'm really feeling good about is Reyes!, LoDuca!!, Beltran!!!, Delgado!!!!, Wright(fifth?!!! ) Alou(sixth?! ) Green(what the heck is he doing here? ) and plug me in a second baseman!
