Certainly hope...depending on his season, and health...the Sox re-sign him, but they're obviously taking the wait-and-see approach.

Tell her not all of us are loudmouthed, holier than thou pricks who enjoy swearing at her dad when he makes a mistake on his job. She'd like that more than some kid asking her if she knows who the closer will be..

Everyone ready for our first game tonight? 7:00, vs the Twins on NESN.

All I know is Schilling is pitching for 2 innings or 35 pitches, whichever comes first. I think Jacoby Ellsbury might be playing, so I'd like to get my first look at him.

Ellsbury is starting in center and batting 9th tonight. The first day of the spring schedule is always a special day for me. It's always nice to get that first look at the new team.

Schilling's outing was brief, as expected. He threw 19 pitches, all fastballs, over 2 innings and gave up 2 singles. His location looked very good considering it was his first start of the spring. The fastball was between 88 and 91 mph though it didn't appear to have much life on it, but it's probably where he would hope to be for his first start.

Pineiro pitched the 3rd, he gave up 1 unearned run (throwing error by Lugo on a routine play) on 3 hits. His fastball didn't have much on it and was at 90. He threw a few sliders that were mostly flat and up in the zone. Not a very good first outing, but it is just the first outing.

Matt Garza started for the twins. The velocity and action was there for him on all of his pitches. He struck Ortiz out to end the first on a nasty slider down and in. His location wasn't great, but he retired all 6 guys he faced. A good first outing for him.

Pedroia and Murphy both singled in their first plate appearances. Ellsbury struck out looking on 3 pitches.

Ellsbury looked good the 2nd time around.

                    Finally, baseball is back!

I saw parts of the game last night and the young kids (pedroia, ellsbury, murphy) looked pretty good from what I saw.

The best thing about ST is being able to listen to the games at work.

I walked in, saw it was in the 10th inning and turned to my roomate...

Next inning...it ends in a tie. Do ST games only go 11 innings at most?

Beckett had a good outing against Northeastern. I'm perhaps more interested in how Beckett's season goes than Dice-K or Schill

Nomar's homer off Pedro. Those four words just shouldn't go together. Not even on a day like 6/6/6. ~Bill Simmons

Yea Beckett pitched really good. 2 IP, 5 K, 1 H, Hopefully that is some of the things to come from him the rest of the year. But it was against Northeastern so I won't get to excited until I see consistency.
