At least they're now having Bonds bat 3rd. IMO best managerial lineup move of the year so far.

I'm going to the game tonight at AT&T Park. I hope he's playing!

No, but the likelihood is very high.

On another note, the disparity in this division is strange. It seems like either the teams are a year away (Arizona, Colorado) or had the window of opportunity pass by (Giants).

You realize that is Bonds saying OK to it. They wanted to do that for a while now but he would veto it. So I don't know why he is OK with it now, but I like it. He probably reaized he will be pitched to more in that spot.

Well, he'll get more at bats, which is the thing that we need more than anything. Recall that in 2002 (the year of their WS appearance), they completely blew away every other major league team in first-inning runs. If I were to make a guess, I'd say that Bonds didn't even get a plate appearance in half of the 2006 first innings. In this first inning tonight, after Vizquel's first of two double plays, Bonds singled to begin a rally of four consecutive hits (or maybe it was five, I forget).

Anyway, one other thing was that the #3 hitter, whoever it may have been last year, would always ground into some double play to leave him on deck where he would then take himself out or it would be their last offensive inning. I can't tell you how many more at bats (and home runs) Bonds would have had if he just batted third. I would imagine that he would be happier batting in the first inning and batting more often in general, but perhaps not.

By the way, Zito pitched tonight... and I'm confused. I thought they completely changed his windup. Fellas, I've seen his windup before, and I don't see much that has been tampered with. I heard it was completely re-altered, and I didn't see any of that tonight. Did he revert?

          Great game, by the way.

Bonds seems to be tearing it up again.

Let's hope he's not in prison before he tries to break the HR record.

He cleaned the roids out of his system.

                      BTW, I think he's due for about 15 HR's, 60 RBI's, and a 50 game suspension.

Well I think we can all conclude that this is the best Barry has looked health wise since 2004, when he was at the tender age of 39 and knocked out 45. Of course baseball is a game of health, just we have a much greater chance and history against us. Anyhow, I hope Lowry finds his release point sooner rather than later

Lowry & Cain will be the keys to the season. Zito will do fine(but not spectacular, I've always liked him, but he isn't worth that money) and Morris will eat up innings with Ortiz being the best #5 guy they've had in a while.

With some of Benitez's comments and last years performance, I can't see him lasting the entire season. Brian Wilson will get a chance to become the closer, esepcially if Benitez(or the team as a whole) struggles early.

Having no power outside of the very questionable Bonds is a huge issue. Expecting 4 and 5 hitter numbers from Durham and Aurilia is dangerous. Roberts is a very good pickup, as is Molina. Klesko needs to be ready, somebody is going to get hurt, he will get some serious playing time this year.

No better than 3rd in the division unless Cain & Zito both pitch like #1's all year long and the offense stays heathly and overproduces.

Not so sure about Brian Wilson replacing Benitez anytime soon. It looked like that to begin spring training, but Wilson struggled so badly that he was sent down. Hopefully he can refine his control and rejoin us soon. Oh and it was nice to see Sheets shutdown the Dodgers. I think the Brewers are one of the most talented teams out there, barring any injuries of course.

I read a quote from Wilson yesterday after posting, he seems to have a piss-poor attitude. He thought his 7+ ERA was good and said "I guess I'm just not good enough" as if shocked he got sent down with that kind of performance in Spring Training. I hope he gets his stuff, and his head, together, Benitez has a wretched attidue as well, I wouldn't miss him at all if he were dealt.

I believe it's Armando Benitez's contract year this season correct? A lot of pro athletes seem to step it up when they smell $$$ around the corner! Hopefully Armando will be one to do so..........HOPEFULLY!

I will be at the home opener this afternoon to checkout Peavy vs Zito......GO GIANTS!!!
