I disagree you are missing the point if they get too good then you can't afford them. lol It goes both ways. I guess after since baseball started free agency, now prospects have kind of lost it's luster. Most teams know they can buy a great team! lol

Re: 2007 San Francisco Giants
You're contradicting yourself by saying a team can't afford a prospect, yet our very own Giants can afford a $126million 7yr deal for a vet through free agency. Come on now. It's really up to the organization and whether they want to show them the money. We've seen 'prospects' such as Cain and Utley be re-signed respectively. Sometimes being in a larger market hurts the team as they just sell out and go out and grab some over the hill vets for millions instead of try using their very own system such as the Marlins. Really though, I don't think I can take another season of Pedro Feliz at 3B. I remember when I was estatic to see him take over in place of Alfonzo, but now that he's declined in BA and OBP the past two years.. enough is enough. One week he'll look like hes actually getting it then he'll go on another 2-35 streak.I do because I can, I can because I want, I want because you say I can'tComment

What the hell! Now that is funny. But if you say so. Zito is already proven and has a cy young. Now what do you do wait for a prospect to get there. Some times you do some times you don't. Cain you rwait, he has all the talent in the world. I think you aren't getting what I am saying. I will agree with Predo he sucks and it was a joke to sign him. I am so tired of no power. That is why you do all you can to sign A Rod next year. He would make your line up instant power and then add some good role players. But one of the biggest concerns is the bull pen! Also, Pedro's defensive skills have gone to hell! I am so tired of him, but no one wants him! lol My whole points is waiting for a prospect to shine doesn't always help you team. This is the pros every body wants their team to win now. So I understand it will take a couple of years to right the ship. I think Bruce will help that, but I am not sure about Brian!Last edited by Scottdau; 04-04-2007, 07:02 PM.Comment

Re: 2007 San Francisco Giants
He is only 28 he is still learning! lol wow now that was funny Olson! The truth is he still has the ability to dominate a game. He pitch good yesterday and could have easy won the game, but Peavey was light's out! It is the bull pen that sucks! Also, he only gave up 2 runs in 5 innings, one was unearned. Those are good numbers, for the first game of the year!Comment

Re: 2007 San Francisco Giants
In his Cy Young year, '01, he went 23-5. Since then, he's averaged about 14 wins a year with an ERA in the high 3.00's
Not only does it seem like his best years are behind him, but he's nowhere worth the value of his contract. Either the Giants intended to grossly outbid the other potential buyers or the asking price was very high.
Why the sudden drop-off? Zito's a one trick pony and the league figured him out.Last edited by Chip Douglass; 04-04-2007, 08:49 PM.I write things on the Internet.

Re: 2007 San Francisco Giants
Ok, I don't have a huge problem with signing Zito, but you've got to understand that baseball is a game of 'what have you done for me lately?' I don't give a damn that he was a Cy Young winner, he isn't the same pitcher, he's not on the same team, and well he's going to have to show me that he deserves a $126 million dollar contract. I highly doubt that ARod would head over to the bay nor would the Giants actually unload their entire spendings on him to have him do so. If he were to come to California, it'd be the big show - Los Angeles of course. Your point is nonexistant with your whole prospect deal as the Giants haven't even allowed our young position players to start everyday without them worrying if they went 0-4, there's a vet to replace them the next game. Honestly, I wish we had gone after Joe Girardi instead of the conservative Bochy
Wow! Now that was funny, look if you want prospect playing good for you. IU want players that are proven and can play. Zito is a good pitcher. Maybe they pay too much, but that is the market, regardless of what people say, Barry was highly sought out this year. So what ever. Any ways let's just agree to disagree. How about Bonds! First HR! Yeah! This is a league that wants you to produce now not later! lol
Personally this would be the best place for A Rod to come. He had enough of the big city pressure! lolComment

Re: 2007 San Francisco Giants
Hey we're losing. Hopefully we can force an early double switch and get Klesko in the game and Cain out of the game and the bullpen into the game.Comment

Re: 2007 San Francisco Giants
3 mistake pitches = 3HR's = 0-2 start for the Giants. Anyhow, Cain looked solid with really that one mistake pitch. He got in trouble when he tried to go up with his pitches. Bonds looked pretty good out there even making a nice running catch early on in the game
