    Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs

Cubs trade Pagan to the Mets for two minor leaguers.

    Cub's trade

Meyers looks like a good young reliever, but not sure about Cole's. Niether guy is on the 40-man, I dont think, and I believe Pagan was, so it seems we're clearing some 40 man room.

Neither of those guys figured to be in the Mets future plans. Coles is 25 or 26 and while he is a good minor league player...I don't think the Mets believed he had the chops to do it in the bigs...otherwise he would have gotten a shot by now.
I think the best thing to say about Meyers right now is he is young.
It looks like the Cubs just wanted to make some room.

Could be, but I have no clue what it could be. Hopefully its not a deal for Roberts.

I completly agree with you about Dempster man.

Kidding. I am officially envious of you. How many games do you go to each spring? It must be great to live there, have you always or did you move there?
Moved out here six years ago after living in Mich & Chicago. Some people love the weather (it is nice) but honestly the best part is spring ball as the parks are in a relatively close proximity to each other. Of course I somehow ended up closest to HoHo....not sure how that happened

I usually try to save 7-10 days of vacation to hit maybe 12 games each year as they are very cheap ($24 behind home plate is the most costly). Oddly though I almost enjoy watching the practices more. (a) they are free, and (b) tons of pix and autograph opps. Not to mention simply being there watching guys like Fonz or D.Lee take B.P. as well as seeing the new young/future guys - as well as the greats on occasion, Ryno, Santo, Fergie.

Got lucky last year and became friends with a golf pro @ a country club out here who coaches Jim Hendry.....got me a Cub team jacket, got to meet and talk baseball w/ Santo (unforgettable!), and got Jim's row of seats right behind the dugout for one game.

Do I miss Wrigley? Yes....but Wrigley-west is fun and they try very hard to create the Wrigley "atmosphere" out here. Not the nicest park to look at out here, but surely the most fun.

              2 days til tix!!!!!

seven months of optimism is helpful...if the team is in the tank early, the entire calendar year seems longer...and sadder. I hate when 'wait...year' begins in June/July.

we were in the tank early last year but got lucky and the Brewers went back to being the Brewers (thankfully).

To a previous post I can say that I will try to post my impressions of the team in the spring.

This year already has a diiferent feeling to me more so than last year. So I really think we could see a World Series run this year.

                            Dude, it is January....

I think this makes it official, we (Cubs fans) are touched in the head.
