Yeah, I enjoyed it myself. Bob( old PR guy for Cubs ) told me that Jim is a great guy, and is alot smarter and hard working then people give him credit for.

Side note: I am also hearing bjowers the same rumor of the Cubs trying to snag Byrd. I also read today, that Lou has set the lineup fpr opening day( barring any injuries/trades) and it Has Pie batting, I believe 7th, and playing CF w/ Fukudome batting 5th.

        Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs

This is what Lou Pinella said the lineup would be:

Alfonso Soriano will lead off on March 31 when the Cubs play host to the Milwaukee Brewers, followed by Ryan Theriot, Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Kosuke Fukudome, Mark DeRosa, Geovany Soto and Felix Pie. He also indicated Carlos Zambrano would start, although Zambrano hinted on Friday that he'd let lefty Ted Lilly have the honor because the right-hander is 0-3 in Opening Day starts.

Thanks Duke, I thought I saw Pie was batting 7th, not 8th...my bad. I saw the Zambrano Quote, and I was kinda hoping he would defer to the second game, only because of his past OD starts.

Was watching Outside the Lines today and they reported that the Cubs ownership are looking to sell the naming rights to Wrigley Field.

If this were to happen I will be extremely pissed.

It still won't be the same.

They might as well tear the place down if their going to rename it.

The sell of this team needs to go through in a hurry.

Yeah well, everything I read say's the sell of the club wont happen until the earliest, middle of the year. Most signs point to it not happening now until the end of the year. As much as I hate the name change, if the name could be something like " Wrigley field presented by Sony" The only problem is knowing how things work for the Cubs, they will charge Millions for the naming rights and no company is going to want to pay that price tag and still have the name Wrigley represented.

Whats the hold up with the sale of the team, do you any idea?

From what i've read, Zell wants the new owners to use Wrigley for as long as possible, so he's trying to get the stadium in the hands of the Illinois Sports Facillities Authority before he accepts any bid for the team. This move would require the new owner(s) to stay at Wrigley for an extended period of time. Not sure how that all works though.

But yeah, he said that the earliest a sale would be completed would be mid season, though after the season is more likely.

Well none of the books ( I believe a book is a package that is sent to each group/person inetrested in investing/buying the Cubs) has even been sent out yet. Once they are sent out, it is like a silent auction, each interested party/group investor has to lay out a plan and how much they are willing to spend/offer.

The following statement is purely speculation from what I have read and gathered, if I am wrong on any points, I apologize.
