I was in the bleachers for game 1. It did feel kind of odd; maybe everyone was waiting for something good to happen. It kind of built up with the DeRosa jack, but died after the slam. After Soto didn't hold on to the foul tip, I turned to my girl and said something bad was about to happen. I could just feel it. 10 second later a ball lands 3 rows in front of me. Everyone is trying to catch it; I am sitting there staring into space wanting to put my head into an oven.
I though this year would be different. From the start they have looked so tight. After last year I figured that would go away and they would play loose and confident, like they have all year.
Our big hitters are just garbage when the money is on the line. No explaining it. I try to back some of them, but it is so hard at the moment. Lou has made stupid decisions, the pitching, and the defense. I mean how in the **** can this keep happening?
Maybe getting away will help. The last couple of years the tension at Wrigley has been like nothing I have seen before. I am part of it as it is life or death at all times. The excitement, desire to finally win is the biggest weight in the world. Jistic you made some great points in your post.
Baseball is an amazing sport, nothing else like it. As bad as they played these last two games, it just takes one play, one inning, on game to change things. One of our money guys has to get a big hit, something to get everyone going. Harden has to bring his fastball and be dominant like he has been at times. Just win one and hope. Lilly would be next and who knows.
They have always failed when in this situation. I don't know why I still believe since I know better, but I just don't know any other way to handle it.
