We might have the 2005 D-Lee back. He's on a tear.

If we get the 2005 D-Lee back I think this team has an honest shot at making the series. A lot of folks (not Cubs fans of course) undervalue just how good of a season the guy had in 2005.

Not me. I thought he was the MVP that year.

I was at the game today. Its kind of ridiculous that Cubs fans have the 2nd highest ticket prices in MLB and are playing 16 games at Wrigley in April, with one series vs Houston and 2 vs Milwauke-- both dome teams. So we're paying more than everyone else to be cold. Nice. Its bad enough the likes of Selig and Reinsdorf have been leeching of Cubs fans for years but, youd think if theyre going to pay more for tickets theyd at least be spared enduring the cold when starting the season so early. The thing is too, is that it wasnt even bad compared to what it has been lately.

Anyway, its good to be back at 3-3. Soriano has really been tremendous at throwing out runners. Throwing out Bourn at home in the first ended up being huge.

yeah...i have wondered about this where Chicago is concerned...it seems we play in some of the coldest weather come April.

DLee is just on fire, the guy is hitting solid shots and spraying them all over the field....I do beleive we have Our 1st baseman back. I am also impressed with Reed out in CF. I loved the fact today when he scored on Aram's dribbler to the right side, he got up and slammed his hands together...like " F*** Yeah!!!!

I love that attitude when I see it on the field. Now lets get this other run in and make it 9-5 and i will feel good about the score again, and a nice 4-3 record.

edit: thrown out at home 8-5 still

I dont think anyone can question that lineup, but I hate that staff, they just depleted it in that stupid *** trade for Jason Jennings last year. If Oswalt is hurt, like I keep hearing rumors off, that would only make it worse.( see first 2 starts )

at the risk of jinxing everything, I hereby renounce my dedication to promoting Lee as the league's talles #2 hitter...

my new soapbox is...get ARam out of the 4 hole!!!
Put KoFuku behind Lee, that would be a 3-4 of terrifying proportions...ARam would still benefit from having guys on in front of him, but would not have to be counted on for so many RBIs...Fuku's consistency begs for him to break up Lee and Ramirez

But thats what the Cubs are paying ARam a crap load of money to do, drive in runs and he does a pretty damn good job of it. He's not paid like he is to hit behind runners.

At the end of the year ARam will have 30 homers and over 100 RBI's while hitting for a respectable average like he always does. You can't project a guys entire season based on one week.

I know...and I am not projecting based on one week...in fact, i am not projecting at all...my point is based on a couple of different factors...
one, KoFukome seems to be a better hitter overall and is much better suited to the top half of the lineup...he has a better approach than ARam and will be more effective in driving in runs and getting on base...when he gets on, ARam is still there to drive in the runs

two, why not break up the two righties?

three, ARam has shown evidence of decline, especially, it seems, mentally...putting him in the 5 hole, where he will be counted on a little less, where consistency will be less necessary, and where power can be more readily sought than a high average, might be a good fit...I think he would still drive in a ton of runs...and he wouldn't be able to slow KosukFuku on the paths.

my post was less about ARam's deficiencies or that he is a bad clean-up guy than it was about how I see KFuk as a better clean-up guy right now...why not put the better hitter there?

Runner on 2nd, tie game, 2 outs, bottom 9...who would you rather have up...ARam or KFuk?

Yeah I hate this CSN+ crap as well as WCIU cause they don't get it here in Champaign. Five more weeks though and I'll never have to deal with it again!
