Ok Alfonso just hit a home run to tie the game. You're welcome.

Hold on there.......I merely commented that I loved reading how the Cubbie fans react to each loss as if it were the end of the world, and each win paves the way for the World Series parade.

One of your Cubbie fans threw out the Chi Sox refrence, not me. I never slammed your team, I only agreed with the reading of the posts was good entertainment.

Lou used everyone but Marmol today....who would have been available had he not been called on to pitch in that oh-so-crucial situation two days ago when the Cubs had that 290078 run lead over the Brewers.

Everything is a joke now...the win streak was snapped, and now Soriano is back and generally causing problems (for the Cubs), and Rich Hill can't do anything. And we have to use EVERYONE in an 11 inning game???

Call up Neal Cotts for god's sake, he can't be worse...call Pignatiello back up...sonofabitch.

          Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs

Didn't feel like reading like 10 pages of responses so I thought I'd say what I feel about my Cubbies this year. They have a lot of potential, but; do they have the right pieces to put together a World Series championship. I think they do if they can get their two lefties going. Hill and Lilly need to start throwing better to get the bullpen a little rest. The Cubs bullpen isn't that great anymore, excluding Marmol and Wood at times. Lieber has done alright but he's old and might just be having a couple easy outings. I like the Cubs in the division but the question every year is when they'll choke. Well...this is "the year" for the Cubs because they finally have the hitting, they have speed, they have pitchers, that need to start pitching, and if they can get that going, they will be just fine. Reed Johnson has been a huge pickup for the squad as he is hitting .300+ and providing a little speed and defense. Pie is turning out to be a bust and everyday I'm leaning more and more to thinking they should trade him. Fukodome...AWESOME PICKUP! I love this guy, speed, hitting, fielding, and plays the game hard. He will have a great year and lead the team in hitting I believe. I like the fact that Lou is sticking with Lilly and he's starting to get out of his hole he's in. The Brewers are struggling with injuries and the Cardinals are just on a hot streak right now, the Cubs will win 95+ games and win the division 2 years in a row...THIS IS OUR YEAR CUBS FANS!!

Cotts is struggling with command down in the minors and Pignatiello is too raw to be a big league player right now. Give it time my man, the bullpen is going to start comin' around.

Bullpen, bullpen, bullpen. Yet again. And Lou, you don't pull a guy in the 1st inning down 1-0, I don't care how many he walked. YOUR BULLPEN ISN'T ANY BETTER.

Our bullpen is right at the bottom in slugging against, ERA, Blown Saves, Save percentage, only Houston's bullpen have given up more longballs..however....we are first in walks against.

What does that tell you? Our bullpen is POUNDING the strike zone, and other teams batters know it. These guys gotta start throwing more junk up there.

Our starters are about 1 through 4 in most categories. I promise you, if we don't get bullpen help....we're done, period.

Yeah, we really only have one guy thats been solid and thats Marmol. I wish theyd start using him as a closer. Wood is too hot and cold. The other guys have been kind of meh. I wonder if we should designate Wuertz and Howry to start games by pitching an inning or two and then letting our current starters have a go at it.

Maybe we should try employing drunks and convicts and we could have a winning tradition also.............go back to your rathole of a town, where the majority of girls look like offensive linemen

It was no doubt in poor taste but I was kind of surprised that the ushers asked them to remove it.

Then things got worse....after the Cub fans took down the sign, they spent the rest of the game yelling out, “Where’s Josh Hancock?” and “Hey Tony can you walk a straight Line?” and “Hey St. Louis, any dead pitchers this weekend?”

These fans were not asked to leave the park but they were clearly getting under the skin of fans nearby (except, ironically, for drunk Cub fans that were encouraging them on.)

Fair Question: Where is the right place to draw the line on what fans can put on a sign and yell out at a baseball game? Freedom of speech? Or freedom for nearby fans to enjoy the game?

wow...one of the fastest guys in the league on first (Pie), and dempster can't bunt him over...double play...

He has to know the bunt is coming, so he knows he has to get a good first step...what's the deal?

Theriot doubles in Soriano, who had his first hit of the day in his 3rd AB. Lee up with 2 out...singles in TheRiot (.325 avg), 5-3 Reds, top 5.

Soto must feel like he's trying to do it all alone tonight...3-3, HR, BB..no one behind him has a hit, and only four other hits for the rest of the lineup. Fukudome is 0-4.

wow...top 9...Font and Pie single, 1st and 2nd, no one out...Does Lou bunt to move the tying run into scoring position?? NO!! Up comes Ward and his .100 avg ***...lines out (.095)...Soriano on deck, you know he isn't going to be bunting, but I would rather have him up with runners at 2nd and 3rd...good grief...we should dump Ward for another Reliever and allow Big Z to be our bat off the bench...

Soriano walked after going down 0-2...holy ****...maybe we can poll it off...TheRiot up with the bags full of little bears...he walks, but our big guys apparently can't get a base hit tonight...

how many more games like this can we have?

Cubs are really struggling right now on figuring out the little things to win ball games. They need to start being able to win games even when their not playing their best day. That is what makes a great baseball team and wins championships. As for the game today, Dempster pitched excellent. 0 ER and 5 runs allowed, also having 7 k's, he did what he needed to do. A player I am liking more and more by the day is Soto. He's stepping up and making a name for himself and the all-star game. Hopefully we can get one tommorow.
