2 shots on the day, 5 hits overall...I don't remember ever seeing a ground rule double at Wrigley...high grass, high wall, fence thing...

Lee is 2 for his last 18...we have been winning without him, but we need him to turn it around...

Gotta lose eventually. Marmol just left one up to a real hot hitter. It happens.

        But man, Soriano. Unreal!

8-2 homestand great to see. 10 over .500 hope we have a good road trip and shoot for 20 over

              Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs

right now, my hope priority is all about Lee breaking out of this slump...he has been awful lately, and Ramirez has not been much better.

Soriano is going to come back to earth probably sooner than later, and our middle of the order guys have to start producing again...

Despite his stellar hitting of late, I still think Soriano is bad at the top of the order. Even if he goes yard, that leaves the 3-5 with less chances to get up with men on, which is why they are where they are...

I love the wins, and I am thrilled that Soriano is hitting like an adult, but this team is going to have to click TOGETHER at some point, and I think that point is July. There is a nasty Houston, Florida, StL, Milwaukee swing that will be the true test of the first half.

We are crushing the weak teams (which is 100% necessary for success), but I want to see us do well against the better teams...I know we swept Arizona, but I think there is some paper-tiger-ness there, save for their starting pitching...their record is inflated, and their strikeout numbers are awful..they will almost surely win the West, and will be a threat in the post-season, but they are benefiting from the crap-tastic play of their neighbors.

We are beating on weaker teams, but if you looked at Pittsburgh's record coming into Wrigley they were one of the hotter teams in baseball...Plus they put up a fight.

I think this series showed the resilience of our team considering we won 2 out of 3. It easily could have gone the other way.

Soriano is a player that absolutely ticks me off with his plate discipline or lack there of but I can't be mad at him now. I mean look at his stats for the last 7 games:

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
                  7 31 10 16 2 0 7 14 0 5 0 0 .516 .500 1.258 1.758

Hopefully we can take 2 out of 3 from Houston. We'll see what Lilly shows up today.

didn't get to watch the game...i swear they are only on the tube when i work...

but the line suggests lieber is doing well again out of the pen, and that howry is settling down...Lilly, despite leaving in the 6th had another strong outing...he has to perform this year, and his last 3 starts have been great...

ARam with a top-o-the-9th shot to break it wide open...nice...

Really nice win tonight. Lilly did a good job and Marmol is just pure filth.

                        Lets keep this going.

Marmol is so clutch...I think he pitches better with runners in scoring position and the game on the line though

He did hang a pitch that Berkman couldnt take advantage of, but I guess thats a testament to how filthy his stuff is...Even his mistake pitches will lock you up.

I love the guy, but i hope lou doesn't run him into the ground like he did last year...you could see him r wearing down towards the end of the season...More games with big leads and a big lead in the division should mean a little rest here and there....

no pen in october = no winning in october.

                                i hope not....

I still cannot understand the signing of Edmonds...he hasn't hit over 257 in the past 3 years, and he doesn't walk nearly enough to make his obp any better...and he ks alot....

how is he better than Pie? I hope they are simply going to work Felix hard in Iowa so that we can have him back later in the season...

Edmonds is not solid enough to serve as the Lefty half of a platoon. I would rather try to teach Fontenot how to play CF.
