I am pretty sure that Dunn's HR was an Earned Run...

This is going to sound a little JohnMadden-ish...

When we were hot, we were playing with the lead...we seem to be playing from behind alot now, and I think that makes a big difference in guys' approach at the plate.

I think one reason we are playing from behind is because we start the first inning and every turn of the lineup with 1 out...

With Fontenot/Theriot/Johnson in the 1 and 2 slot, we have an average of over .300....

With Soriano and whoever else, we have an average of <.250

It doesn't take a sabremetrician or even a sabre-toothed tiger to see the problem here. Age is catching up with Soriano, which means is swing is slower, which is a big problem for him in particular.

And we have to release Daryle Ward...there are hundreds of people in the US that can play 1B and hit the ball, and eat.

Theriot--Fuku--Lee--Ramirez--Soto--Soriano--DeRosa--Johnson
= CUBS WIN!

so, am I mistaken? A HR is an Earned Run, right? They list Lieber as having no ER so far, despite 3 homers in the bottom of the 2nd for the Reds....wait...sorry...just checked, it is now 4 homeruns.

Yes and he's given up 5 earned runs. I just take a break from work and go to the mlb.com gameday site only to see that Lieber has given up 4 bombs; 2of which were to Bako and Hairston...ugh. I closed it and am going to go about my work day.

Lost the last 4 series. Best team in baseball coming to Wrigley Friday...then SanDiego and Pittsburgh...

The sad thing is Fuku is slumping, Lee is back to earth, the defense it beginning to bear a resemblance to the bullpen, and Soto seems to be hitting all be himself...this team NEEDS Soriano to produce and at least be worth half of what he is being paid, but he can't find his...um, bat...with both hands.
