Oh when I was much younger. I'm sorry you're right. But not since the early 90's. And I'll never go back.

The good news is the Bears play Detroit Sunday so if we've been swept by then we should have something positive to focus on.

Teams that lose game one are 4-24 in Div series.

There's nothing to be positive about. Tonight would be our 8th straight playoff loss! The pressure, the "curse" even if completely psychological is very real. It's a burden felt by players and fans.

Did you notice how deathly quiet it was last night? Even with no score? Even when the Cubs were winning? The pressure is immense. The Cubs are a self fulfilling prophecy. This isn't just balls and strikes.

This is the one thing outsiders can never grasp, analysts, even some of the players. They come one after the other and defiantly mock the curse. And they simply end up as another footnote.

This isn't about a voodoo curse, it's the Wrigley Field/Cub pressure cooker. It's the culture of losing even in a winning season. Losing is masochistically embraced here.

There's nothing to be positive about. This would be the 8th playoff game in a row to being positive about, and not get me anywhere. I just think it's blind faith now.

When this is all over I say we level Wrigley and build a Super Target. That place has done nothing for the on the field product.

And 3King? We'll he's getting some more scars now, so soon he'll have more clarity in his thinking. I remember when I used to think that way. :wink:

Sorry that some of you guys are so hurt, I understand. But after all these years, the CUbs are the Cubs. Like I said earlier, outsiders don't and can't get it. This isn't a baseball thing, it's a Cubs thing.

Time to nuke this dump Wrigley Field and build a Super Target. Take this team to the suburbs. It's a new era.

Like I said earlier, I firmly believe we'll win game 3, just enough to extend the pain a little bit, then it's lights out, another playoff choke. Be glad it's over this quickly and we don't have to feel the pain of '03 again. Being teased with any playoff success would just make it worse. A quick death is always best.

I'm good with the team just being bums and winning 70 games a year. Much easier that way.

I hate to say it but I saw this coming all year.

On to football season.

Man Jistic, I don't know what to say anymore. I haven't gone through as many growing pains as some of you older guys but I've been here since the early 90s with the Cubbies.

The Cubs are Charlie Brown always getting the football pulled away at the last second. I'm 39 years old and have come to realize the Cubs will never win. That's why I do not get excited when they are in the playoffs. Jistic is right. The pressure is too immense. Think about it. This franchise has not won the World Series in one hundred years and counting. One hundred freaking years!

As I mentioned in the playoff thread, I think 1984 was probably one of the worst sports moments ever for me. Granted I was 7 yrs old at that time, it still is the top disappointing moment in sports history for me. I can't stand the White Sox to even be a fan of that team so I am SOL with Chicago Baseball.

Last year didnt' really hurt that bad because I become numb after '03 and the joke of a team this became with them under achieving the next few years and their pampering of their soft ***** players, Prior, Wood, and all the babies that couldn't handle criticism.

When this team ran Stoney and Chip out of town because of those ******* in the clubhouse I knew it was over. The culture of this team has turned so soft. And they got Len and Bob the perfect kiss *** company men to make every excuse in the world for them

Last night that schill Kasper was on FSN saying, "Hey what can you say, the Dodgers are just outplaying us." C'mon man, call these guys out for what they are. Well I guess that's why he got the job.

I'm tired of this franchise embarrassing the city anymore. I so hope Cuban wins the bid and blows this team apart.

'84 and '03 churn my stomach even here in 2008 like you wouldn't believe. A lot of people blamed Bartman, but the team was already in trouble during the game as it was already. Bartman was just the icing on the cake.

'89 and '98 don't bother me as much for some reason.

I have been wishing for a Cuban takeover since the rumors started. If anyone can turn things around, it's Cuban and his money.

Cuban and his money won't turn it around unless he's able to get players in here who have the balls to handle the pressure of having 100 years of failure and curses behind every curtain.

This team has flat out CHOKED again. We haven't seen two games like we've seen the last two nights all year.

On paper the pieces are in place. All they needed to do was execute and they failed. IMO, that's choking.

In 03 the team was hardly in trouble. 3-0 lead, man on second, 1 out, and a 3-2 count to Castillo? Most people forget that the biggest problem in that inning was the Gonzalez error. The most optimistic and delusional Cub fan would think it was a double play ball but, it wasn't. They still would have gotten at least one out.
