I am curious to see how Fogg performs this season, all we need is for him to be mediocre for it to be a worthwhile investment, IMO.
Are you saying that he can't be a flyball pitcher? Because Harang has been tops in strikeouts the last couple of seasons (tops=near the top). It doesn't matter what ballpark you play in to determine if you are a strike out pitcher.

Looks like Bailey may need a good kick in the butt:

Volquez is not Harang though, obviously.

I simply meant that he can't come in hoping to strike everybody out like he is in spring training. That line of thinking will get him killed at GABP.

I would also prefer if he weren't a flyball pitcher.

(sorry if this sitll doesn't make sense, I've had a few green beers today.)

I see what you are saying now. I agree he can't have that line of thinking. Cordero is mentoring him so hopefully he is listening and learning.

            Happy Green Beer Day!

You guys are division rivals, but this is just depressing to me:
LOOKING LIKE LEADOFF: Corey Patterson is hitting .474 this spring, mostly in the leadoff spot.

"I always thought he'd be a good leadoff man," Baker said. "He's got all the tangibles to be a leadoff man. Maybe sometime you're not ready. When he came up, he didn't know how to bunt. They said he was going to be a 30-30 man and it got in his head."

If being one of the few players in the league capable of amassing an OBP under .300 is now a requirement to hit leadoff, then yes, he has all the tangibles.

I really, really feel sorry for Cincy fans, even those that don't realize Baker's living off a very stale reputation.

the moment we signed him I knew this was going to happen. Dammit I'm already sick of having this clown as a manager. I really think ownership met in a conference room to determine the new manager and I envision the conversation going something like this:

Castellini: "So, who do you guys think should be the new manager?"
ownerdude1: "We need somebody with experience, somebody with flavor to put butts in the seats."
                    managementdude1: "How about Dusty Baker?"
ownderdude1: "Oh yeah he'd be great. He took a team to a World Series so that means he's automatically better than any younger candidate we could possibly find."
Krivsky: "Uhh...actually that would possibly be the worst decision ever and set our franchise back 5-10 years."
ownerdude1: "Shut up Krivsky, you're just lucky we hired your sorry *** out of that poor excuse for a major-league franchise in Minnesota."
Krivsky: "I'm just saying the guy is a veteran manager and we've got a bunch of young talent, it just would be a poor fit."
managementdude1: "God dammit Wayne don't make me come across this table and bitchsmack you back to Minneapolis."
ownerdude1: "Yeah, let the grown ups and smart people make the decisions."
ownerdude2: "I like Baker because he chews on a tooth pick during every game, which lets you know that he's cool, calm and collected and always in control. Who wouldn't want a badass like that to be our new manager?"
Krivsky: "I can think of a lot of..."
                    *managementdude1 smacks Krivsky*
managementdude1: "Speak only when spoken to, r-tard."
Castellini: "Wow, a toothpick. You guys are definitely right, experience plus a toothpick, this guy has all the intangibles. Let's get the paperwork started."

the season hasnt even started and you guys are already bashing Baker? Baker's teams have done better than us recently so I'm gunna give him a real chance.

You mean the under-achieving Cubs teams and the Giants teams that were so loaded with veterans that they probably could have played without a manager?

that's because Baker always had veteran teams with quality players. He's never had to mold a bunch of young talent with a crappy bullpen into a winning team. We trade away Josh Hamilton to clear the outfield logjam and then he tells Krivsky to sign Corey Patterson. Why? In what world does that make any kind of sense? Then he demotes Jay Bruce and and says that Corey Patterson, who possesses a career OBP of .298 will our leadoff hitter. We are days away from a Neifi Perez signing.

I will support the team almost regardless of anything and that includes supporting the manager. But I sure as **** don't have to like him.

I never really thought about that. I'm telling you, that trade will haunt them. Hamilton is a stud, as long as he stays healthy.

We'll see if he realizes that fully. We (Orioles Fans) thought the same thing for the past two years. Sure, he lays down more bunts and uses his speed much more, but he struck out way too much, especially for a lead-off hitter.

Personally, (just my random thought) I believe Baker still feels he can turn Patterson into a consistent player. He took a lot of heat for Patterson's performance in Chicago, and may feel like he can right the ship.

Regardless, getting rid of an outfielder for the purpose of clearing up space and then signing an outfielder a little later, makes zero sense. Sometimes I feel like Baker thinks of this stuff after he falls off the can.
