Yeah he was only throwing 90 last night, he use to throw 96.
He looked horrible last night, the more I see him pitch the more I wonder if he is ever going to put it together.

Is it too early to start looking forward to next year??
Hopefully next year is the year for us, we sure could use Griffey's 16 million a year elsewhere. I heard a rumor again that the Jockerty is interested in signing Jason Bay this offseason. He would give them a big RH bat that they really need.

I was looking at his pitchtrack and he hit 93 but that's still only a shell of his former self.

I'd keep Griffey. Bay might show up and he might not. He's not the most consistant guy. Griffey will give you solid offense every year.

He isnt this year he is on pace for 20 HRS and 75 rbi's and he has batted 3rd all year.
We need a better run producer, I am sorry but Griff needs to go.

I agree and I would rather re-sign Dunn than Junior

So hard to get behind this team and get a good feeling. Up and down, up and down. I guess if I expect them to be up and down, I won't be disappointed. Going to start being that way from now on, hopefully they surprise me.

            Damn optimism.

Wow. I didn't think he was doing that bad.

as far as Bailey, he was throwing 101 in the AAA all-star game last year so yeah, something has happened to his velocity. And at this point I'm in the camp that thinks he won't ever put it together. I really hope he does, but he keeps taking steps back when he needs to move forward.

as far as the Dunn/Bay debate, I'd rather sign Pat Burrell.

Burrell is going to be one of the most sought free agrents this off season, no way the Reds will be able to afford him. He will sign with a big market team for way too much money.

I would really like to see a line up of 3-5 hitters being Bruce, Bay, and Dunn. Put Phillips and Kepp in front of them and you have a pretty good top 5.

Bailey's velocity is down because the Reds told him that he needed to stop putting his hands over his head in his windup thus changing his mechanics.

Was this supposed to get him more control?

Here's some other top players set to high the free agent market this winter:

                        Carl Crawford, OF
                        Mark Teixeira, 1B
                        Rafael Furcal, SS
                        Hank Blalock, 3B
                        Vladimir Guerrero, OF
                        Manny Ramirez, OF
                        John Lackey, SP
                        Brad Penny, SP
                        C.C. Sabathia, SP
                        Ben Sheets, SP
                        Francisco Rodriguez, RP

Burrell may command a big contract, but I think he may be within signing range for the Reds. His numbers compare favorably (re: better) to those of Bay's so I'd say at this point I'd prefer Burrell. Burrell also walks a ton more than Bay and that could be a boon to Cincy.

Problem is none of those guys on that list are mid-30s and washed up. They don't fit the Reds FA strategy, overpaying for washed up has beens.

Ugh, I can't stand Burrell. Being from around Philadelphia, I see a lot of Phillies games and Burrell I have always disliked. It just seems like everytime I see him he's striking out. Or hitting a long ball. He seems like another Dunn -- and I don't know if I can deal with two of that type of player on the same team. Also, Burrell has health issues. The Phillies often take him out after he hits in the 7th or later. He has some lingering lower body issues (his heel, I think). How much will he really stand to make as a FA with that type of rap on him?

So it's been a good series with the Red Sox this weekend. I went to the game Friday, which was great. The Reds should've have won yesterday. Two dumb runs by Boston early and then Mike Lincoln throws two consecutive pitches up in the strike-zone that Youk and Coco Crisp end up taking deep. The game today between Beckett and Homer I'm a little worried about.

Seen on a couple of websites that Junior is supposedly keeping his eye on the Rays as a possible destination for a trade. He'll have to take them off his no-trade list first. I'd take Jeff Niemann and maybe a flyer on Rocco Baldelli for him.
