Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
Most guys wont sign balls that someone else has already signed.
I am a very big collector or signed baseballs (I have about 100 signed baseballs, including 12 from the big Red machine era) and most guys will not sign a ball someone else has already signed. You really dont want them to sign them anyway as it lowers the value of the ball. Its hard to believe but a signed "team" ball is worth less then a ball signed by just one superstar.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
NHL: Calgary Flames

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
A friend sent me something the other day, that I assume came from Hal McCoy, about Mark Stowe throwing a box of signed team baseballs across the clubhouse because someone had smudged the the names and written Pete Rose on them. I imagine it was a pain for Stowe even to get the balls signed by the whole team and then someone messed them up. My guess is Junior or Dunn did that. Anyway, in that same e-mail it was mentioned that Junior didn't sign balls that had someone else's name on it too. For team balls, he apparently had to be lied to and made to sign first. What you said, jake, makes some sense, but I just thought that was a little egotistical.
"Big box under the Christmas tree, unopened for nine years." couldn't have said it better. hope he does well in Chi-town tho.Comment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
Has anyone heard? That Reds suck!
Here is the lineup I think we should be using:
CF Hairston
SS Keppinger/Phillips
RF Bruce
LF Dunn
3B Encarnacion
1B Votto
2B Phillips/Keppinger
C Catcher
P Pitcher
Hairston is obviously our best leadoff option. I like Keppinger in the 2 hole but I also like Phillips and I think an argument can be made as to why you would want either there or in the 7 hole. Bruce will likely stay in the 3 hole as that is where he has hit most of his professional career. That's ok as he has hit 2 dingers in 2 games there. I like Dunn behind Bruce and in front of Encarnacion as I think it gives him protection. I also think that with Dunn in the 4 hole, it gives Bruce a better chance of having something to hit. If Bruce gets on, and Dunn hits a dinger then it will be with someone on base. Also I think that EE is showing he can be and will be a 30+ home run player. If he can somehow avoid those 2 month long slumps to start the season he would likely already have 30 home runs. So he protects Dunn. Votto protects him and Phillips protects Votto. If Keppinger is in the 7 hole then most teams won't think he is a threat but when he lines a double to the gap and scores Votto they will think twice about that strategy next time.
Anyway, I just wanted to throw out that lineup and reasons and see what you guys thought about it. Just something to talk about unless we continually talk about how bad the Reds suck.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
Nice job of getting swept by the worst team in baseball this weekend. Cueto had a rough 1st inning but was fine the rest of the way. Reds gave him no run-support. Now it's back home to face the Brew Crew and the Astros. I see at least a 6-game losing streak before winning a game. Maybe they can split with Houston next weekend?MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Hear's to hoping Jocketty does something in the offseason to give me a reason to give a crap next year. Otherwise my fandom may just dwindle to nothing. Even if he does I won't believe it will help until we make the playoffs or at the worst, finish 2nd or 3rd in the division and have a record above .500. Otherwise this team year in and year out cries wolf. "We are going to be better." "They are the darkhorse." Bull crap. The Reds suck and nothing will make me think otherwise until they start making moves to better the team and until they can show they are winners.#WeAreUKComment

Haven't we torchered ourselves enough with this team this year? I mean seriously. They suck. They act like they don't sometimes but then they remind us just how much they suck.

Also about time for me to change my Avatar.
Here's to next spring, when we will be thinking "NL Central Champs" again.Comment

I think the Reds have now become the Braves from the mid 1980's. Wow....that's sad.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
it's to the point where I feel bad for guys like Phillips and Dunn for having to suffer through constant losing. I mean dropping three in a row to the worst team in the league? What is with Dusty that the team plays so poorly on the road? It's baffling. I'm still a fan and I'm still going to watch the games but maybe, like a drug addict, the team needs to hit rock bottom before it can start getting better.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
Ok so I read that they are going to give Bruce a long hard look at batting 3rd. The first two games he hits a dinger in each. Hits safely in all three games and goes 4 for 12 for a .333 avg.
Today he is batting 7th. Can anyone tell me the logic behind that?#WeAreUKComment
