If Bobby puts LaRoche in the 5th spot in the lineup behind McCann, we might score more runs. Why is he continually hitting 7th?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine. -

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I read yesterday on MLB Trade Rumors that the Braves more than likely will deal Vazquez after the season and offer Hudson a contract extension. Too bad it's not Lowe they're dealing. I would much rather have Vazquez than Lowe but I guess it will be hard to move Lowe with his contract. Let's just hope Hudson stays healthy.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
It would be for offense for sure, but I have no idea who. Now I'm hearing that Kawakami might be moved instead. Can you imagine next year's rotation with Vazquez, JJ, Hudson, Hanson, & Lowe? Assuming everyone stays healthy, that would have to be the best staff in baseball. Even though Lowe's been inconsistent, he's still won 14 games and has a great chance for win # 15 tonight against a depleted Mets roster.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I'd rather we deal KK than Vazquez. It's been awhile since we've had a strikeout pitcher in our rotation and Vazquez gives us that. I know some will argue that Vazquez isn't a strikeout pitcher but he has 216 this season which ranks 3rd in all of baseball so if that doesn't make him a strikeout pitcher I don't think anything will.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
man, guys, how did we escape last night, outhit 16-9, our starter doesn't make it to the 3rd. seriously!
in an aside, frenchy is raking at the moment. i was on a family holiday to new york last week and we caught an UGLY mets fish game at citi field, where Parnell took 35 pitches through 1 inning, fish won 13-5, 31 combined hits, but frenchy had 2 or 3 hits then and, i thought, looked like he looked when he had his break out year couple of years ago. sure, i'm pleased for the guy, but why couldn't he do that for us?!?!
as for trade talk, i can't see people taking Lowe with his contract after this season, but Vasquez is a big player, and he's proved even after a shaky year last year, he's still a dominant major league pitcher! i don't wanna lose him, though, cos i feel confident when he's on the mound, which is a lot more than i feel about Lowe!!Currently playing MLB 23

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Man...this just might be too little, too late, but the Braves have finally gone on that win streak we've waited for all year. The Phils are up next and they are just as hot (in our 7 game win streak we've only picked up 1.5 games on them!). I would love another sweep.
Game 3 of this series will be nice as it's Cliff Lee vs. Tommy Hanson."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Well it's officially time for the Braves to break my heart again but I'm starting to believe. 16 games left and we're 4.5 GB in the wildcard, and 7.5 GB in the division. It will be tough to catch the Phillies but I'm thinking we could possibly steal the wildcard.........at least I'm hoping. After pretty much writing this season off after the Reds sweep, these guys are on fire now and have me excited again.
Looking at the schedules, Atlanta is in about as good as shape as they can be in, considering that they are trailing the wildcard by 4.5 games that is. Atlanta has 3 games with Philadelphia, 3 with the Mets, 3 with the Marlins, and 7 left with the Nationals. Although we've struggled against the Nationals this season, I still like our chances against them with the playoffs on the line.
The Rockies have 3 with Arizona, 3 with the Padres, 3 with St. Louis, 3 with Milwaukee, and 3 with the Dodgers. They certainly have a tougher go of things than Atlanta does.
If you want to throw S.F in the mix considering they're only 3.5 GB in the wildcard, they have 3 with the Dodgers, 6 with the Diamondbacks, 4 with the Cubs, and 3 with the Padres remaining.
Florida is 5 GB in the wildcard and they close out the season with 3 games with the Reds, 6 with the Phillies, 3 with the Mets, and 3 with the Braves.
These last few weeks should be very entertaining and interesting to say the least!Comment

If we can win the series against Philly, then we have a chance.
IMO, the Phillies series determines our season.Believe in Blue

Im not getting my hopes up again. I've done it too many times this season only to have this team start losing games to mediocre teams.Comment

Our wins are very much associated with Mac's hitting so he's got to stay hot until the end of the season.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Maybe it's coincidental, but when there's no posts in this thread Atlanta goes on a roll. We're 4 GB of Colorado who's getting pummled by SD right now. As crq posted earlier, the schedule for the Rockies is a tough road ahead and we have a lot games against the Nats so we have a chance - especially given our recent play.
