His expectations, and how you rank him are two vastly different things.

I'm not desperate to be right, it's just that easy to prove you wrong. All these advanced statistics online, hours and hours of video and you resort to just fabricating information to support your emotionally charged banter.

If you don't like a guy, you find the next best thing and pump him up like he's an MVP before he's even swung a bat, dribbled a ball, or threw a pass. You've done it in like every forum on this board.

Lmao @ this internet cred thing. Coming from the guy who is challenging people to "competitions" over a message board.

I'm not going to derail this thread any further. Moving on.

Gonna be interesting to see how they proceed.

If Fowler is out for an extended period of time I'm assuming LaStella slides to 3rd base?

Yes, he's been great lately. I've acknowledged that. He doesn't have the range Russell does, but if he continues to hit like this, he should definitely stay.

Let's see it for most of the year. Not just in spurts like previous years.

Spurts ? He's shown he can be consistent via being a two time all star. Career .300 hitter, and now finally on a winning team with talent around him and look at his production thus far.

I don't get the "cubs fans" down on Castro and want him gone. Dudes gonna be a allstar for many years to come.

My issue with him in previous seasons has been his approach to the defensive side of the ball. His base-running can also sometimes get aggravating. However, he's definitely been fantastic so far this year. If he's going to hit over .300 and play above-average defense, then hell yeah...keep him.

It looks increasingly stupid carrying three catchers. Currently 0 infielders available on the bench.

What, again, are the reasons for having Jackson and Schlitter?
Are there really no other options? Took both of them 4 batters to get one out, and Jackson couldn't keep the tying run from scoring.

Ummm the reasons are Grimm and Ramirez are hurt. Kinda short handed in the pen atm.

I know it's early in the season, but our bullpen is aggravating the hell out of me.

Really don't have a choice because of injuries.

The David Ross pinch hitting thing also needs to stop being a thing, immediately.

It's not the pen, it's the fact that we can't pitch Rosscup, Rondon, and Strop every day...

That being said, everyone else is apparently awful...

If a game is close, there is no business for Coke, Schlitter, or Jackson to be involved.

There needs to be some more timely hitting...but the management decisions are not working out. Too many bad relievers in close games, three catchers, sending Denorfia into the 2nd out while Rizzo was batting.

Right...i get it...but there ARE other options. Not many...but they can't keep trotting out the pen just to blow leads.

Maddon is resting guys, hard to find someone pitching consecutive days...but the way the relieving rotation has worked out is not ideal. Regardless, it has to be addressed if competing for the division is the idea.

Even then, the issue might not be the pen today...the pen gave up one run on it's own, the other came from an inherited runner (from Hendricks).

Today, the Cubs sent the minimum number of batters up from the 6th through 9th innings. All but one of those innings was 3UP/3Down

Who are the other options then?

You already said we can't throw Rosscup, Strop and Rondon every game so who do you suggest?

The other options there are were showcased today. This is what you are going to get until Grimm, Wada and Ramirez get back and guys can be realigned. Pitchers aren't just joining the roster out of thin air.

Wada has started two games in Iowa without issue, and Russell and Britton have put up enough decent numbers in the first two weeks to at least be considered an alternative to Schlitter/Coke/Jackson.

Of course, just ebcause someone is an option doesn't mean they'll fare better...but it seems the case for Schlitter and perhaps Coke not even being sufficient has placeholders has been made.

You guys are right, it's a difficult situation.

Edit: My bad, I thought Wada was off the DL.
