I was thinking about this the other day, too. Move Zobrist to the 2, Heyward to the 7 spot or something. Get him out of the top of the order.. the guys is having an abysmal year so far offensively.

How about our bullpen? Travis Wood, Strop and Rondon were lights out after Hammel came out early. A combined one-hitter (that should have been caught).

This is from a week ago or so, but still a great read for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Reading this makes me appreciate this team even more. It just seems like the whole teams is really close.

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread

This might be nothing, but I am really excited about the way the Cubs have played since losing Arrieta's start. You look at anytime the media gets really excited about a silly streak, its very easy for the team/player to start going downhill once the streak is broken. Now obviously Arrieta hasn't pitched yet, but he also pitched very well and kept his personal win streak going so I don't think it would affect him anyway. But watching the game, it was one of those loses that hurt more than the usual regular season L. Maybe that was just cause it was one of the first games in a while that I actually watched the whole thing...but the team really responded well and has won each game since. Again, that could be a silly observation, and maybe its just more proof of something that is already quite obvious: that the Cubs are pretty darn good

Excited to see what Almora can do for us while Soler is on the DL. Hopefully he can figure out how to hit .250 so he can stay in the lineup, cause he's gonna be filthy in the field.

Cubs reacquire Chris Coglan from the A's for Arismendy Alcantara.

Kinda like the move. I liked Chris Coglan. Its always good to have multiple left handed bats on the bench. I think Alcantara can put together a decent career in Oakland too. He just didn't have a spot with the Cubs

I'm not sure how Coghlan has a spot but Alcantara doesn't...AA brings speed and defense that are orders of magnitude better than Coghlan's, plus he hits switch...

                        I like Coghlan as a 4-5th OFer...

My QUESTION...what about Sczuzr?? The guy honestly deserves the bulk of the starts in Soler's absence...and perhaps when he returns, as well. I don't think a full season line from Sczuzr of 18-20Hrs is out of the question.

I'm not sure how much longer Soler deserves a consistent look. His value seems to be in potential. Trade it.

Lol. Szczur is not hitting 18-20 HR.

Coghlan and Caesar will form a nice platoon in LF. Should give us way more than Soler was. Especially on defense. Soler is at 0.0 WAR in 50 games played this year.

as bad as Soler has played he's still much better than these guys. Hopefully Coghlan can regain some of the form when he was hear previously. He's not replacing Soler but his defense was probably worse.

Coghlan getting some time in LF as I suspected he would. Starting today in Atlanta.

We're a over a third of the way thru the season and he's barely hitting his weight. Is he better than what's behind him? I don't think we can really say one way or the other.

Maybe he's just not that good...he pretty much looks awful anytime he's not hitting a HR.

They'll surely add a bullpen arm, and he's one of our best chips to trade for one.
