Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
Started my Braves franchise on The Show the other night. It was already hard with all the new faces. No Kimbrel now may force me to go with the Bucs for this year.Comment

Hey Markakis is for the fans in Cobb County for the new park & ticket sales. I wonder what Freddie Freeman is saying about this move. Dang gone Hart!Comment

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
I think Kelly Johnson has had a good enough spring to platoon in LF with Gomes. Young had a good spring too so I'm sure he'll start out with the CF job, I just wonder if he can handle that defensively. Not sure on Maybin's abilities in the field, I honestly don't think we'll get much out of either.

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
Might not take til 2017. Still have Freeman, Simmons, Betancourt, and a promising rotation. Also only have $56 million committed to next season. That's about half of last year's payroll. Who knows, maybe we're even able to bring Heyward back (probably a pipe dream, but I can hope).Comment

I got rid of Kimbrel in my Show franchise but I never expected Hart to do the same.T-BONE.

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
If Minor can get and stay healthy, he has to be next, right?
Teheran, Wood and Miller are under control. We've acquired Wisler, Fried, Folty, Jenkins and Banuelos just this offseason. And Sims and Hursh, among others, are still there.
They likely won't all pan out, but at some point we should start dealing some of the young arms for some young bats.Comment

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
Whoa, wasn't expecting that. I'm a big Kimbrel fan, but I think we all realize that it just made sense. An elite closer does not have much value on this team, even though I think they are better than the last place projections I have seen. Still, it is sad to see Kimbrel go since he was always so much fun to watch.
Despite this, I actually am excited to see this team play. I love the top 3 in the rotation with Julio, Wood and Miller. Cahill is still young and has proven he can pitch at least a couple years ago, and if Minor can get right then this is still an elite rotation top to bottom.
Lost some "star" power in the lineup, but I think the guys we have will be more fun to watch. If nothing else it will be different. Also, I really like what I saw from Jace Peterson in Spring Training. Who knows if it will translate to the regular season, but he played well and he seemed to have the right attitude from everything I heard.
This team isn't going to win a WS in 2015, but I think they will be competitive. There is an upgrade at CF this year almost by default no matter who is there. RF does not look to have much of a drop off (if at all) with Markakis out there, and despite how much he was loved here Heyward was not exactly Mike Trout in the lineup. No denying that the offensive output from LF is going to drop this year, but with far fewer strikeouts from LF and the rest of the team I think they have a better than likely chance of being more consistent offensively this year. Combine a more consistent offense with a rotation that is still very good, and this team can be fun to watch.
edit - I know a lot of us are down and thinking "why bother watching until 2017". What was the point in watching with had we kept Heyward, Upton, Gattis, and Kimbrel though? That song and dance has been tried already, and we saw what it led to. Way too many strikeouts, and a lineup that was inconsistent even when a couple of them were in the middle of career years. At least now I can hopefully watch something other double digit team strikeouts every time out, and while prospects are never a sure thing at least we have hope.Last edited by KSUowls; 04-05-2015, 08:22 PM.Comment
