    Re: 2016 Cincinnati Reds

Votto's average is bad due to his BABIP being quite low, but his OBP and SLG are still good, just not quite Votto like yet. He'll be fine by the end of the year. Why is Phillips, who doesn't hit for power or get on base hitting third though? Hamilton is outhitting him FFS.

I didn't realize how far Cozart's come with his bat. He's got 14 HR now, one shy of a career high in half the AB's. He's hitting for average and getting on enough too. Plus, we know how good he is with the glove.

Nice to see Duvall make the All Star team.

We trade Chapman to the Yankees for four marginal prospects.

The Yankees flip him for a top 25 prospect, a top 100 prospect, a marginal prospect, and a major league ready starter.

Full value my *** Mr. Jocketty.

Yep, will end up as 1 of the all time worst deal in history, thanks to Walt. I said it back when they did it, it was stupid and if they had did the homework they would have known Chapman wasnt going to get a extremely long suspension, and heck even if he had then he wouldnt have had the service time to be a FA at season end, so it made no sense for us to trade him back then, when his value was at its lowest.

I really hate this cause I hate the Cubs, so to see any of our former players, let alone Chapman in a Cubs uniform makes me sick to my stomach. I hope a pray the Cubs still crash and burn, and dont even make it to the world series. But even before they got Chapman they looked like the best team in baseball, so this just strnghtens it even more. Then again they have had a couple teams over the years of my life that looked to be the best team in baseball only to fail, so hopefully history continues to repeat itself, and the biggest joke of a sports team continues to fail at winning it all. Even if they do happen to win it all, its quite funny to see that amount of incompetence out of a team, let alone 1 thats a big market team to go well over a 100 yrs without a championship. Although if I was a betting man I would bet the farm on them to win it all this yr unfortunately.

I'm legitimately mad about not only this trade, but the haul we got back for Cueto. Lamb sucks, Reed is only a couple games in to his career, and Finnegan hasn't been much better.

Maybe we should stop pressuring the team in to trading good players for assets, because they ****ing suck at it.

LOL, yep there has been some bad deals since they decided to retool/rebuild. The Cueto deal will take a couple years or so to really know how that fares for us. I like Finnegan and he has had some good games this season, but been inconsistent, thats to be somewhat expected, but I think he will at worst be a solid BP pitcher if starting dont work out. Reed is young, and so far its not been too good but I think he will be a good pitcher in time. Yes Lamb sucks, wasnt a fan of him being in the deal, but Lamb was basically a throw in, Finnegan and Reed were to prizes.

Chapman deal was horrible and shouldnt have happen at all, it made no sense to trade him at his lowest value, its not like he murdered anyone, and while I dont condone domoestic violence towards woman, it never did seem like what Chapman did was going to get him extreme suspension, and even if it did, that would have meant he wouldnt have been able to become a FA at years end due to lack of service time, so it was nonsense to trade him at all when his value was at its lowest. Rookie Davis is the only 1 that has much of a shot to amount to anything in this and thats not enough for a elite closer that throws harder than anyone in history. Well Renda might be solid too, I forget about him in that deal.

Leake brought us Duvall, and surprising thats looking good. Wasnt a fan of the Frazier deal either, part of that is probably some bias because I had followed him since his LLWS days, big fan of LLWS and a dream of mind to go to Wlliamsport to see the LLWS before I die, since I never made it there back when I was a kid playing. Yes Peraza looks like he will be atleast solid, but not too high on anyone else in that deal.

It still blows my mind that we could just dump Chapman for basically nothing in return, I was pissed when the deal was made, and even more pissed now that he is with the team from the hell whole that is Chicago with there incompetent fan base, well not all of them are incompetent, but most Cub fans I have ever met have low baseball IQ's, dont want to degrade the Cub fans that come here, as I know atleast some of them are very knowledgable with the game that spend time here in the The Show forums.

Just hoping now its a rental and Chapman doesnt stay there, for a couple reasons I hate the Cubs and I dont want us to have to face him, and Im sure our players dont want to face him either, lol. Wish the Nats could have pulled the deal off to get Chapman, but Im guessing they wouldnt part with Turner for 1, so the deal fell thru.

                  Trade Cozart.
                  Bench Phillips.
                  Peraza to 2nd.
                  Suarez to SS.
                  Duvall to 3rd.
                  Schebler to left.
                  Nimmo to right.

As much as I like Brandon, and admire him playing thru injuries thruout his career, I cant really disagree with this either. I also do understand hiis side of things too, but if were rebuilding fro the future and BP isnt part of it then they need to send a message to BP that if he wants to play daily he needs to waive the no trade clause.

Suarez has not been good at 3rd defensively at all, and while his D at ss wasnt great it was better than what it is at 3rd. Peraza;s arm strength is lacking imo to be a regular ss, thats my only concern. We do have Blandino in waiting and he has been playing 2nd last I checked, but also is a ss, and Id rather have in the future Blandino at ss and Peraza at 2nd. Suarez defense doesnt get better whether its at 3rd or ss, he will need to play LF.

Personally I kind of hate to see Cozart go now that he seems to have finally figured it out at the plate, but the worry of another knee injury and his value at its highest right now it does make sense to move him.

I just feel like this team is constantly rebuilding. Like the Cleveland Browns. Yes, trades need to be made, but constantly dumping our best players is not the way to do it.

                      I hate our front office.

As a neutral party I sometimes feel like Jocketty was sent over by the Cardinals to take the Reds down...just an absolute waste of a really talented roster from 2009-2013.

I was going to say that but was afraid it would make me sound like I'm being a super negative Reds fan. I love my team. I have grown up a Reds fan. All time favorite is Barry Larkin. I remember meeting Eric Davis at Riverfront.

Just seeing them become the absolute joke of baseball hurts. And seeing talent get traded away like Frazier when he was absolutely our best player and the heart of the team, sucks.

As a Braves fan I can understand the pain...I do feel my team is at least getting decent prospects back/has a plan while it feels like the Reds are just spinning their wheels.
