I didnt say I think he should get into Cooperstown, just that he should be heavily considered. BP shouldnt be 1 of those guys that falls off the ballot after a yr or 2. If I had a vote for BP he would be sitting on the fence on which way to go for induction to Cooperstown. Id say he probably needs to have a couple more solid offensive seasons for me to give him the nod, but he is in the disussion imo.

I'm not excited for baseball at all. Usually I am. But I don't trust Jocketty and company. So I can't get excited. I heard something about us being projected to win a ridiculously low number of games.

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
Disco out four weeks with a UCL sprain.
With the luck our medical staff has, he'll be out for most of the season and will require TJS, causing him to miss next season as well.

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
Yeah, I aint got much faith in our medical staff either. Beginning to question our training staff with the injuries we have had to deal with every since the start of 2014.
Bronson look solid in his 1st outing, being able to get it up to 87mph. I would love to see Bronson pitch well and make the team. He would be a nice mentor for the young pitchers, and Ive always been a big fan of Bronson, 1 of my all time favorite Reds pitchers over the years. So I would like him to succeed for himself as much as for the team sake.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
If Bronson can consistently hit 86-87 with his fastball, he makes this squad.
If he's throwing low-mid 80s like he was with Arizona....nope.

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
Yeah, he needs to be in the mid 80's to be effective imo. IN all fairness Bronson was pitching with a torn UCL in Arizona, so that was the reason behind his lower than normal velocity.
Jerrod Weaver tends to get by throwing barley 80mph, but he also was in a more pitcher friendly ballpark too, but If Bronson can consistently be in the mid 80's with his FB, he should be able to have some success.
Key will be how his body holds up, more so than velocity on him making the team. He has already said if he cant make the Reds, he is done, as he has no desire to pitch for another team, so I hope his body holds up, and he can have some success for us, and then be able to take off the Reds uniform and retire as a Red which is how it should be. Bronson was a big part of the start of our resurgence when we finally got better ownership than Carl Linder,( as Linder did 1 good thing while owner, which was keeping the Reds in Cincinnati) and were able to start winning again, after years of misery. Hopefully Bronson not only pitches well, but has a positive impact on the young players on the team. If nothing else he will be a good mentor, but he has to be able to get results when he takes the mound too.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
I like Bronson. He is a big Pearl Jam fan (as am I) and he can be a great veteran for our youngins'. Not to mention, his wiffle ball pitching can be hard to deal with after seeing 95+ mph fastballs.#WeAreUKComment

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
Looks like Feldmen is getting the Opening day start. Personally with Disco hurt, I thought Finnegan should have got the nod, since he has been with the team longer. I would think differently if it was a newcomer who was elite, and Feldmen definitely isnt elite, he is a 5th starter at best on a good team.
Not that I blame Price with going with a guy with more experience, as the hoopla of Opening day can be overwhelming to some Im sure, especially in Cincinnati where Opening Day means more than any other teams Opening day.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
I know we have some injuries that have opened the door for some of these guys, but I have to say that I am impressed the Reds front office is keeping Stephenson, Amir and Rookie on the team.
Will be nice to have several young guys to watch and see how they develop.#WeAreUKComment

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
Im not sure what to think with Garrett and Rookie making the OD roster, only because if they waited a few weeks, then they would get another yr of control if they just waited on these guys. By doing this they will be able to be FA a yr sooner now.
On the other hand, they are putting what they feel is the best possible team on the field from the start of the season, so in that respect it shows they want to try and win, an get off to a good start. Which is ultimately your goal each yr or it should be, unlike what the Cubs and Astros did a few yrs ago by tanking on purpose.
Going to be interesting to see how the young guys fair this season. Obviously there will be bumps in the road, but I do hope these young arms fair better than Cody Reed did last yr, but I think Reed will end up being a solid pitcher.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Finnegan was stellar tonight after the first inning. I think he threw like 25 pitches in the first inning and in the 6th he had just over 70. Talk about a turn around. Iglesias shut it down and the first win is in the books.
Doubt this team will make any noise this year but there is something in the back of my mind about this team that says they will be better than I anticipated. Probably wishful thinking on my part as I am usually pretty down on this team. Man how I wish I could remember what it's like to be in the post season most years instead of once or twice every other decade. As a UK fan I take for granted postseason play. As a Reds fan, who's nearly 44 years old, I've kind of forgotten what it was like. Even when we had a couple year run a few years ago, it was weird to me. Hopefully in the next couple of years this team will be a perennial playoff team. Not holding my breath though.#WeAreUKComment

Re: Official Cincinnati Reds Thread
It's been a joy to see the club get off to a good start. A couple of shutouts was amazing to see.
Got me thinking... We had a historically bad bullpen last year. If it becomes even just okay, that's probably an extra bunch of wins right there. I think I had pegged this club as just hopeless with only a faint direction. I think I was wrong. The outfield is questionable at best if you ask me, but we've got a pretty nice infield especially if Mesoraco can come back and be the player he was.
It's been fun to have these young guys pitch for us and even Feldman had a really good outing the other day. Now I'm not fooled in to thinning we're gonna be atop the NL Central by season's end, but we might not be the 30th best team in baseball as some preseason predictions had us at.
I'll take it!NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
