Re: **The Official New York Yankees Thread**

It’s looking more and more like Machado could very well end up a Yankee, yes there is no certainty yet but the reports are increasing daily. Not a fan of it at first but now I say go for it, I think the drum beat of Yankees desperate need for starting pitching is over blown, could they use another rock solid pitcher? Sure so could everyone else. Get Machado and just slug everyone to death while the starters continue to do good and the pen remains lights out

    Hicks
    Judge
    Machado
    Stanton
    Didi
    Sanchez
    Torres
    Bird
    Gardner

That’s just crazy to even look at really

With Greg Bird's homer in Baltimore yesterday, the Yankees have set a new record for the most HR before the All-Star Break. (152 HR.)

There just aren't any quality pitchers available is what fans are missing.

Cashman can't get what they need if there's no one to get.

Some fans are seriously suggesting they not acquire Machado because they need Happ. Its not a good look.

And I get that we love our young guys and Andujar has been fun to watch, but let's be real, he's not Manny Machado.

Finally, I see a lot of the they could sign him in the off season. Sure, and risk missing his bat this post season?

The Yanks are not in first place. Why wait for something you can have now that can potentially help you win now?

^Right, you make the moves that are there to make. If we could take whatever the Machado offer is and trade it for a top pitcher instead, obviously we'd do that, but its not available and won't be.

            Step 1: Trade for Machado
Step 2: Sign Bryce in the offseason for the 5.3 mil MLE
            Step 3:????
            Step 4: 10 straight championships

Seriously though I just can't believe how this is playing out, we're in such a position of strength. If we can get him, and still keep Andujar to trade for a pitcher, that would be wild.

If they can’t get DeGrom I would definitely like to see them get Machado. Unfortunately it’s looking more and more like the Mets are gonna be the Mets and foolishly hang on to DeGrom when he is potentially at peak value.

I'm starting to sour on Bryce Harper. He's so young so I understand the allure. But Hicks has a better War then Harper this year. I'm not sure he's necessary. Our OF looks outstanding going forward. And if Florial turns out to be anything like he's projected. The OF is just loaded for the future and beyond.

Regarding Andujar. Man... this is tough. Obviously Machado is so good and he's an upgrade. But Andujar is so young. Are we really willing to lose him for a rental? We could just sign Machado next year. But I say stay the course. This group has come up together. Let's run with it.

I'd definitely stay away from Harper. I want us to keep Andujar and I'd prefer a good pitcher over Machado.

I'm a huge fan of Didi and it's cool t see that he has broken the Yankees' record for most HR by a SS before the ASG.

Agreed. I'm ready to give Sheffield a shot. They probably just don't want to jeapordize his trade value. But it sounds like he's part of the long term plans. And I wanna see what the kids got at this level.

I don't know what I'd prefer at this point: an untested (top) prospect or some like Happ/Hamels, who have struggled recently.

I fully expect Gray to pitch better. He's not this bad. That being said he's gonna have to completely turn it around to get a spot in the rotation in the playoffs. I'd take a flyer on Happ if Toronto wasn't so unrealistic about their offer. I'd give them Frazier and thats it. And that might be too much.

I really want to see Gray turn it around. I just don't know if he can be counted on. Frazier for Happ at this point would be too much, IMO. I wouldn't have necessarily thought so in June, but now...? Maybe a reunion with Eovaldi, who's been solid for Tampa.

Well it’s starting to look like we are gonna lose out on Machado. Starting to doubt that this team is good enough to catch Boston as is. If we only get Happ or Hamels this deadline is a failure in my opinion. A meh mid level pitcher like Happ or Hamels won’t really change much.

A strange deadline though following a strange offseason. What other solid impact player is available except for Machado? Really can’t think of any at the moment, am I missing anyone?

I agree with not likely getting Machado, and getting just Happ/Hamels is a disappointment, but I wouldn’t say that makes this trade deadline a failure. Would Manny make the lineup that much better YES, but let’s say we give up Andujar and several key prospects to get him, then he’s a dud in the playoffs and doesn’t sign with us in offseason, that’s a failure with long lasting implications.

And just trading high prospects that EVERYONE projects to be impact MLB players just for the sake of “winning” the trade deadline hype is fools gold (not saying your saying that, just making a point)

I say go with what we got, run Sevy, C.C and Tanaka as the starters in October they are just as capable as anyone else idc how much in love everyone is with Hou staff, which is beatable as we’ve beaten them this year but also coming back to earth numbers wise. That 4th starter if needed is a blend of German, Gray, Loaisiga etc and that still leaves a fully loaded bullpen that is virtually untouchable.

I just don’t think A) our staff is that bad like the hype says B) that Machado guarantees anything

Boston will cool off as they did earlier in the season when looked like they were running away with it, stay close and beat them head to head and we will be fine.

                              Just my 2 cents
