It's about time they started to play some respectable ball. Only 10.5 games out of first now! lol

So by that post you're pretty much admitting this season is done for the Minnesota Twins?

                OK? 2-2. So it's a tie.

I am really excited to see how he performs. I have heard Terry Ryan speak on the radio about how he doesnt think Liriano is going to even be ready next year. I am guessing that Ryan is kind of downplaying the hype that has surrounded him and the Twins are auditioning him to see how he pitches. If he does well I am guessing the Twins are going to be offering Kyle Lohse around this offseason. Lohse should be attractive to teams because he is young, has shown some good stuff, doesnt have injury problems and has been pitching a lot better in the second half of the season.

Looks like Liriano pitched 5 very solid innings. Did anyone watch the game? I was getting my tattoo. I am curious to see where he topped out and what kind of "stuff" he had.

                          Re: Minnesota Twins 05 edition

Well it was a disappointing but not surprising season. We had a lot of question marks coming into the year, especially our young bats. I feel bad for our pitchers because it seemed that if they werent pitching a shutout or a one run game, they werent going to win. This isnt new knowledge, but you arent going to get very far when getting 3 runs is considered good run support. Without Joe Mays, I believe that we would have had a top 3 pitching staff. I really liked what I saw in Joe Mauer this year and it looked like Morneau may have been finding his power stroke at the end of the year.

This offseason should be an interesting one. We may have a little bit of money to spend with Joe Mays salary and possibly Jacque Jones's coming off the books. This frees up about 12 million but we are the Twins so who knows whether we will spend this or not. I continue to hear rumors about Soriano but doubt that anything will come of those. We will for sure see Scott Baker and Jason Kubel play large roles on the team next year but other than that I dont see anyone in our minor leagues contributing much. I think Liriano needs at least 1/2 a season more to get ready for the Bigs. We also should see some relievers come back to further strengthen our bullpen.

Possible moves that could be made:

I think we could possibly see Kyle Lohse be traded after seeing him have a strong finish to the year. He only makes 2.5 million and is young which makes him attractive to other teams that are either cash strapped or see potential in Lohse.

I think we saw the last AB of Jacque Jones in a Twins uniform. The FA market is thin so some other team will probably throw some decent $ at Jacque. I also believe that if Jason Kubel is healthy that the Twins FO believes that Jones is expendable.

This could finally be the offseason in which Terry Ryan deals some of our prospects. We are thin for everyday prospects, but are rich in pitching. The only prospects that are untouchable are probably Baker and Liriano. I can see Ryan dangling some of our talent in front of teams with power hitters they are willing to deal.

I dont believe that we will make any large moves via free agency.

I believe we may at least talk to the Reds about Adam Dunn and to the Rangers about Soriano.

I look forward to seeing what others think of my assesments. Please feel free to disagree, agree or add to what I said.

No, they got him from San Fran. In the AJ trade, where we got Joe Nathan and Liriano.

Not bad looking, but nothing very creative. Now I want to see us adding a bat or 2. The Romero for Mike Lowel rumors are pretty interesting, but I dont see anything getting done.
