    Re: Minnesota Twins 05 edition

Joe Mauer really needs to stay healthy and we need someone to step up and put up some power numbers. Has anyone heard about who is going to be the 3rd baseman or SS? I heard Bartlett was having a good spring but I think that the Twins want him to have a little more time in the minors. Even if that means he is just going to be called up later this year.

Michael Cuddyer will be the Twins 3B with rookie Terry Tiffee likely serving as his backup. The SS job will likely go to Bartlett, who is hitting .421 on the spring, Juan Castro would be his backup. Nick Punto has been awful this spring (.143 BA) will probably start the year in the minors, however if the Twins believe Bartlett needs more time at AAA than Castro may start at SS and Punto would be his backup.

The Twins bench should look like:
        C Mike Redmond
        C/1B/DH Matt LeCroy
        IF Castro/Punto
        IF Terry Tiffee
        OF Mike Restovich

After returning rule 5 draft pick P Ryan Rowland-Smith to the Mariners the Twins are expected to carry 11 Pitchers, 5 starters and 6 relievers. we know the starting 5 will be Radke, Santana, Silva, Lohse and Mays. My guess is the bullpen should look like:

        RHP Jesse Crain
        LHP Terry Mulholland
        RHP Joe Nathan
        LHP C.J. Nitkowski
        RHP Juan Rincon
        LHP J.C. Romero

Glad to see Restovich finally make the team, albeit only as a backup. I really would rather see Tiffee play in the minors than sit on the bench although Cuddyer can play all over so I am sure Tiffee will see enough action.

                Re: Minnesota Twins 05 edition

The Twins shook up their roster today sending Terry Tiffee to AAA releasing P C.J. Nitlowski and losing Mike Restovich through waivers to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The Twins have decided to carry 4 Catchers, Joe Mauer will start, Mike Redmond will be th primary backup, Matt LeCroy will probably DH and Corky Miller will be insurance incase Mauer gets injured. As i said LeCroy will probably be the DH which means Lew Ford would be the 4th OF'r. Jason Bartlett has won the starting job at SS, Juan Castro and Nick Punto will serve as backup IF's, the Twins want Tiffee to get regular AB's at AAA. Matt Guerrier beats out Nitkowski for the last bullpen spot, Guerrier had a solid spring and like Restovich is out of minor league options, the Twins likely would have lost him through waivers.

So this will be the Twins opening day roster:

                Starters
                C Joe Mauer
                1B Justin Morneau
                2B Luis Rivas
                3B Michael Cuddyer
                SS Jason Bartlett
                LF Shannon Stewart
                CF Torii Hunter
                RF Jacque Jones
                DH Matt LeCroy

                Bench
                C Corky Miller
                C Mike Redmond
                IF Juan Castro
                IF Nick Punto
                OF Lew Ford

                Starting Rotation
                RHP Brad Radke
                LHP Johan Santana
                RHP Carlos Silva
                RHP Kyle Lohse
                RHP Joe Mays

                Bullpen
                RHP Jesse Crain
                RHP Matt Guerrier
                LHP Terry Mullholland

Twins are 2-1 after 3 games.

                    Next Series:
                    April 8-10 vs White Soxs

I am excited to see how well Kyle Lohse pitches tonight. Hopefully he can give the Twins 7 strong innings.

Unfortunetely I have to record the home opener. We are having company over and I will probably have to have the TV's off. I am hoping for good pitching by lohse this year. Maybe if he does well enough the MVP baseball announcers will get his namer right. Oh wait, we will never know...

                        6 straight wins!!!

Today the Twins hope to sweep the Indians. What makes this surprizing to me is that this is all without Justin Morneau. So far I am impressed with Juan Castro, he has made a ton of great defensive plays. I am also impresses with Torii Hunter, 3 HRs already. I think that if Silva can recover from his injury the Twins will be in great shape.

Twins have won 4 straight!!! Ever since Morneau came back from his injury, he has been playing good. How 'bout Lew Ford, I think he has had 4 game winning hits.

Hopefully the Twins can win the series against the Angels, they won game 1....7 to 4.
