Why not? You gotta score that run somehow. If not, be aware of where the plate it.

Hopefully it won't matter though in the end.

    Go Baez.

Have you watched Tek block the plate in the last couple years? He'd have better luck running into a brick wall.

        Typical Ortiz.

Thank God Crawford scored in the bottom of the 9th.

Come on Baez, get Manny out.

Apparently Ortiz can't win every game by himself. Way to help him out guys.

Honestly, Renteria is the biggest free agent bust I've seen in a long, long time. $10 Million for utter mediocrity? I used to be on this guy's side, but it's impossible now. Putrid signing. Theo has had a putrid year in general. He should be embarrassed at the team he's put out there. $130 Million payroll and literally only 1 player producing.

Even if he makes that play, he doesnt get Crawford out at the plate. Still, there's no excusing his horrid defense. This team is becoming frustrating to watch. I still think they'll win the division, but they're making it much closer than it should be and they need to get consistency out of their starting staff, because that pen won't win them much.

At least Hanson looked good, and Ortiz is still playing like an MVP.

What's up with the rest of the AL East teams?

The season is going to come down to the Orioles/Devil Rays/Blue Jays, and is seems they've made up their mind who they want to win the division. I'm hoping the Red Sox can play well and hold off the Yankees despite this.

On a lighter note, here's a pic of Red Sox rookies: Papelbon, Delcarmen, Stern, Shoppach and Machado

Um...wow, that wont be going up on my fridge anytime soon.

Also...I swear there's a conspiracy in baseball with the Devil Rays and Yankees. Honestly...the Devil Rays completely own the Yankees the entire season, and then suddenly when the Yankees have to win the Devil Rays roll over and die. And then they decide to play 100X harder against the Sox...hmmm.

I dont think its a conspiracy.

I think its just that the Yankees finally realized that it may be wise to beat one of the worst teams in the league during a pennant race.

I'm sure the Sox thought that way too. Despite several miscues on the field last night, the Sox probably should still beat the D-Rays.

EDIT: There will be proof of a conspiracy if the Orioles decide they want to become a superteam this weekend when they play the Sox.

Big 3 spot there. Let's get it done Schilling.

Ortiz is beyond human. He changes games unlike anyone this past couple of years not named Bonds. MVP no doubt, and hopefully he'll crack 50.
