The 'Mazins might be outta the Wild Card race by next Saturday.

What do you guys think about the trade with the Yankees? The reported deal would have been Trachel for Felix Rodriguez. Would that have been a good move for the Mets?

Ya know, the Mets have been winning and in the wild card hunt in spite of Beltran's best efforts.

Beltran was acquired to help the Mets lineup when the Mets get into these sudden huge slumps at the plate. NOPE. He can't even advance Kaz Matsui in the 9th. He strikes out at a pitch at eye level. Beltran, so far, has been the worst signing the Mets have made. Hell, Matsui(who's a really bad signing himself), was able to drive in Reyes and even get on base in the 9th, working a walk!

heck no... that would have been a very dumb deal for the mets... one more washed up Felix on the Mets is not good... i think the mets can get a little more than that

****, if we just need a damn arm, we'll grab someone in the Independent League. Hell, maybe we can find John Franco.

As bad as the Mets bullpen has been at times, it is their hot and cold offense that makes us a .500 ballclub. I don't care if we had 5 number 1 starters, if we score 1 or 2 runs we are not winning anything.

I have absolutely no confidence that this offense will do anything at all. I am thinking this team will fall victim to a perfect game in the last month.

I blame John Kruk, on Wednesday, he said we had the most consistent offense of the Wild Card peeps, since then we haven't won. Someone shoot that mother****er.

still only 2.5 games out. I can't take this anymore.

well, its over. Good run by our boys. We have a great base to build a contender.

yes - considering that Beltran was, well, not that great offensively, Piazza hurt, & Cammy missing the year after the collision... not too shabby for the boys............

well we got a few games worth of "September baseball"

I just wish this offense didn't just die all of a sudden. If the Mets are going to lose games, I'd rather have them play well overall instead of getting good pitching but absolutely no hitting.

again, before the season started, I was hoping for .500 at best. I'll take this and I know Manaya will tweek in the offseason. I'm gonna miss Piazza though. But, its time for him to go over to the AL.

I think the season was a success. A .500 record is a step in the right direction. They got full healthy productive seasons from Wright & Reyes and have a solid left side of the infield for a very long time. Beltran was ok in center and Floyd had a good year. Right field will be interesting in the offseason to see if the Mets to trade Cameron or Diaz to get other pieces they need. Jacobs will get the rest of the season to see what he can do at first. Kaz has played well lately and they do have him for 1 more year, but is he the answer or does the Hernandez kid get a chance to take it next year? The number 1 need this team needs for next year is a catcher.
