Re: Official N.Y. Mets Thread
Ya know, the Mets have been winning and in the wild card hunt in spite of Beltran's best efforts.
Beltran was acquired to help the Mets lineup when the Mets get into these sudden huge slumps at the plate. NOPE. He can't even advance Kaz Matsui in the 9th. He strikes out at a pitch at eye level. Beltran, so far, has been the worst signing the Mets have made. Hell, Matsui(who's a really bad signing himself), was able to drive in Reyes and even get on base in the 9th, working a walk!Comment

heck no... that would have been a very dumb deal for the mets... one more washed up Felix on the Mets is not good... i think the mets can get a little more than thatComment

Originally posted by jrivera34As bad as the Mets bullpen has been at times, it is their hot and cold offense that makes us a .500 ballclub. I don't care if we had 5 number 1 starters, if we score 1 or 2 runs we are not winning anything.Comment

Re: Official N.Y. Mets Thread
yes - considering that Beltran was, well, not that great offensively, Piazza hurt, & Cammy missing the year after the collision... not too shabby for the boys............
well we got a few games worth of "September baseball"Comment

Re: Official N.Y. Mets Thread
I think the season was a success. A .500 record is a step in the right direction. They got full healthy productive seasons from Wright & Reyes and have a solid left side of the infield for a very long time. Beltran was ok in center and Floyd had a good year. Right field will be interesting in the offseason to see if the Mets to trade Cameron or Diaz to get other pieces they need. Jacobs will get the rest of the season to see what he can do at first. Kaz has played well lately and they do have him for 1 more year, but is he the answer or does the Hernandez kid get a chance to take it next year? The number 1 need this team needs for next year is a catcher.Comment
