Zambrano's just not the answer as a back end of the rotation guy. He's just not a good pitcher. He's got a killer fastball but he can't even control it. If he was younger than 24, I'd see keeping him around so he can get help with his control. However, he's not. Coming off of an arm injury sure as heck doesn't help matters either.

I just can't help but wonder how much things would be better if we had:

Pedro, Glavine, Trachsel, Benson and Ishii, with Heilman in there somewhere....

Get rid of Zambrano. The Mets have to outscore teams when he pitches ALL the time... argh.

Ishii's wild too but has better stuff. At least all the Mets gave up for him was Jason Phillips. Phillips was expendable but he is not doing that bad at all out in LA.

Now.. Zambrano for the Mets top pitching prospect? Sure, Kazmir's a bit wild right now but he's only 21 and CAN improve. If you want to move the kid so bad, at least hold out for someone better. You just can't trade a high ranked pitching prospect, no matter how wild he currently is, for a guy that's probably at best a less-than-mediocre starting pitcher that's a RL version of "Wild Thing" Rick Vaughn :P. This isn't a movie, though, so it's likely not going to be possible to fix his issues. Zambrano's probably going to be nothing more than a journeyman in a season or two anyway.

But after last night.. sure, Aaron Heilman may never live up to his first round billing, but man.. I think he's got a job in the rotation for awhile, even when Benson returns.

Ended up going to the game last night.. .damn it. Was a fun atmosphere in the 9th, but Floyd didn't save his best for last...

A walk-off HR and I think I would have exploded. Damn. Damn again.

Here's hoping we can take the series...

We really need to get some better relief pitching. We called up Bell and Ring from the minor leagues to help out. Trade Cameron for someone who can pitch.

First thing I did in MVP 2005 was trade Scott Kazmir back to the Mets for Victor Zambrano. Zambrano's still rotting on FA in my second season, while Kazmir.. eh, he had a lousy first season, but he still has a job going into my second season!(I need to learn how to hit now that I'm getting the pitching down

)

Why would I do that? Well, see the game tonight for example :P He ONLY walked three batters, but hit Jose Guillen twice :P He's just a garbage pitcher.

the only reason they keep treading that waste of a pitcher out there is cause they want to prove the Kasmir deal wasnt a mistake.. time to end it now.. face it -- he's terrible..

If they were so hard up on trading Kazmir, their top pitching prospect that they inexplicably gave up on, they could've gotten someone better easily. There were a ton of teams out there looking to have a nice, young, live arm developing, and all the Mets were able to get was VICTOR ZAMBRANO? That deal cost Duquette his job. He hade several nice trades, getting rid of players like Roberto Alomar for good young talent, but that one deal pretty much reversed everything he had done up until that point.

that deal was one that Duquette was forced to make cause Mr Wilpon told him too - apparently Wilpon listened to Leiter & Franco too much (Leiter for some reason didnt like Kazmir), decided Kazmir would be a bad influence, & told Duquette to trade him..

I wonder if that was a reason why Minaya didn't try to get Leiter back in a Mets uniform for this season. There is very likely other reasons but I imagine Leiter's influence on that deal might have had some effect.
