Damn and Brandon League was impressing me for the most part...

Here's a question is Hill a lefty or righty?

      Hill bats right.

I was suprised League made the club in the first place. I was shaking my head when the Jays brass said League had nothing left to prove at AAA. That's a strange comment considering he's never even pitched at AAA before.

The Jays are going to put him into the starting rotation. Last season he was rotating between starting and relieving. I feel like with his stuff he's better off being a closer. I envision Vermilyea and League as the future set-up man and closer for the Jays in the future.

The Jays are really lucky they have good pitching depth in the farm system. The market for starting pitching in the open market skyrocketed last summer.

Well since Hill bats right why don't the Jays platoon him and Adams? That way it would be a showcase for other teams and maybe we could get some talent in return for Hill or Adams.

That doesn't make any sense because both guys should be playing as much as possible.

Hill only has a handful games at AAA. If you're going to platoon them, you're only going to slow both players development by taking away crucial AB's and fielding experience.

I'm still not entirely sold on O-Dogg.I like his enthusiasm for the game and his defense, but I don't know. His hitting seems shaky at times.

How many times has Hudson grounded out to the right side of the infield this year already? He must've at least 25 times...he's just not a good hitter. I'd trade Hudson, move Adams to second where his arm wouldn't be a liability, and play Hill at short once he's ready. I'm sure a lot of teams would be interested in Hudson because he's so good defensively, and hopefully we could pick up either some propsects or package him for a slugger.

Re: Official Toronto Blue Jays "Birds Nest" Thread

I just came back from the game a while ago.

I have to say the turf isn't as impressive in person as it is on TV. It looks like carpet I had when I was a kid. Another thing that I noticed that ppl don't see on TV is that the home plate dirt progressively gets blacker and blacker due to it being synthetic dirt. It's not a huge problem but it's kinda distracting.

The auxilary scoreboards aren't as bright in RL as they are on TV.

                  Sheffield is HUGE in person.

I felt like I was in the visiting ballpark tho. In the area I was sitting in there were tons of Yankee fans. In fact for most of the game this annoying girl kept screaming "Let's go Yankees". The dome was the loudest i've heard since 1995 when I saw the Jays and Indians play a day game.

Overall I had a fun time tho the area I was sitting in had crappy concessions.

I just would like to thank Shea Hillenbrand for being such a fantasy stud.

I wish we had won that game last night, I felt the Jays could have with all those men they left on. I'll be at the game tonight against the Orioles lets hope we can win this series.

I'm sorry, another thing that bugs me is Vernon's first pitch swining.I mean, from time to time it's alright especially if you see a pitch you like and you're looking for that pitch, but he does it almost every at bat and it's frustrating especially when there's men on base cause it kills rallies.

Good effort last night. Just came up a bit short. This Yankee team is stacked!

Let's see what we do with the Orioles tonight. I predict a win tonight!

I think it's because of the rib pull IMO. He also seems to be pressing. I think that if he's continuing like that up to the midway point of the season then he's not going to be much of a factor for the Jays this year.

I think Hillenbrand should be the cleanup guy. Just my opinion tho.

Well the Jays are slipping after their hot start.

Wells has always been a first pitch hacker. I wish he would change his approach but that doesn't look like it will happen. He also has a bad habit of chasing high fastballs out of the strike zone. He said he was gunning for 30-30 before the season and I doubt he reaches that. I've been really disappointed in him thus far. Hopefully he turns it around soon.

Koskie has also been a dissapointment so far. Everytime he goes up to bat, I fear that he's going to strike-out.

RSN had a stat that showed Rios has the 7th longest AB streak without hitting a HR right now. If doesn't start showing HR power this season he shouldn't be starting. Don't be fooled by his decent BA. His SLG% and OPS is well below the production you should expect from a corner OF.
