2k's analog pitching IMO is still the best, not perfect but the best.

2k was on to something. IF they had the analog pitching tied to to the pitcher movement/wind up release it would be undoubtedly the best pitching mechanics ever.

I take back what I said about SMB, you're right. MLB 2K8 had the best pitching system. Not 2K9 and onward, though I still liked it. 2K8 had the accuracy portion of letting go at the right time on top of it.

tril, if you've never played MLB 2K8, you owe it to yourself to find a way to download the old demo on your PS3 or Xbox 360 if you're able to and fool around with that. It will address the one concern that you had about it. Of course, developers had to make their game more accessible and dumb it down some (instead of leaving the option for players who wanted a little more control).

Wasn't the issue with 2K8 that if your accuracy was off, it resulted in a meatball? I seem to recall being really annoyed when I'd try and throw a curveball, not get the accuracy right and then the pitch turned into a grooved fastball. I'm 100% fine with inaccurate pitches, just would've been nice if the missed gesture resulted in that pitch type being wildly outside of the zone or a wild pitch/passed ball, etc.

Going to the 2-step process with 2K9 did eliminate meatballs and provided the specific pitch type inaccuracy.

I think it did, yes. It wasn't just wild pitches, pitches would tend to hang over the plate (and that game was not forgiving with meatballs, one of my least favorite features of that series at the time).

I'm just talking about the control mechanics of it. I thought it was pristine. You're right in that it probably wasn't the best as a pitcher when it comes to like throwing walks and such, but I had so much fun with that one for sure.

Imagine if it also had something like SMB where you had to lock a reticle onto a moving target, haha.

I just checked my ps3 titles, I just realized I must have bought MLB2k8 within the past few years for 1.79 at gamestop, but never played played it. between SMB, THe SHOW and 2k12 (PC), I never popped it into my PS3.

SMB3 has been taking up alot of my gaming time this past week.

              Man I'm loving pennant race!

One thing I'm learning is no lead is too big or insurmountable.

I gave up 8 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning so thank god I was up 15-3! Ended up with the 15-11 win!

The game before that was a 4-2 pitchers duel.

              Online plays so smooth.

Only those who have had this happen to them know how frustrating this is. The good news is that you can exactly duplicate what you had last time, unlike something you’ve created for the first time.

Anyway, doesn’t the game ask you to save every time you back out of a menu creation screen?

Anyone having issues with defense? I play as the Buzzards, who are defensive specialists, but I’m seeing a crazy amount of errors. My catcher will drop fastballs on the corners, I’ve had my first baseman drop multiple accurate throws, etc. It feels like when I dive for the ball there’s a 50/50 chance of booting it, even when I’m using elite defensive players like Buttons Bunterson. It’s even more frustrating because players don’t really back one another up and some of those booted balls travel really far. There have been multiple times where I’ve dived for a ball, booted it into some awkward space in the outfield, and had the runner go all the way to third on what should’ve been a diving play or a single. Anyone else noticing this?

I had never even heard of this series until about two weeks ago. I played the demo, read the reviews, and decided to take the plunge...I am having a blast with this game. I’ve been playing sports video games for years and I have to absolutely give it up to the developers for coming up with such a creative concept for a video game. The different players and their names are a riot. The fact that the game does not have real life players really sold it for me. I am a huge baseball fan and I watch a ton of games (normally, anyway).I love the fact that the players are fictional. The gameplay is FUN! I even told my wife that the other day and believe me she has no idea what I’m talking about and probably could care less but I figured I had to tell somebody how cool this game is! It reminds of sports games from when I was a kid that were just fun to play (NHL on Sega Genesis comes to mind). There is a real retro feel to me and I love it! Of course there are things I would like to see added, but you know back in the day there were no updates; the game was the game and that was that: love it or hate it. This game is a breath of fresh air; kudos to the developers...thanks for making a baseball game fun!
