Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
UConn's D looked like booty tonight, reminds me of last year where teams were always comfortable against us - never felt pressured or rushed or intimidated. Way too many easy buckets in the paint, to many cutters going where ever they wanted, etc. Thankfully Hash woke up the final 7 minutes of the game otherwise it woulda come down to the wire."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Marquette plays crosstown foe UWM tonight and I get the privillige of sitting courtside since I am a writer for MarquetteHoops.com. We are 35-0 all time against UWM so I dont really consider it a rivalry. Marquette should have no problem with them and I expect a 20+ point winComment

UofL opens the season tonight with Morehead State in the Billy Minardi Classic. They will then play either South Alabama or Florida A&M depending on the outcome of both games.
Also, UofL is being replaced by Cincinnati in the Maui Invitational next year. The Cards will make the trip in 2012. The Cards are apparently in negotiations with another exempt event.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
I am a freshman this year so it is my first but I have been on the message boards on that site for a couple years. I must say that it is a pretty cool gig. I got to go to media day and talk to all the players back in October. Then I also get to go to press conferences before each game along with the one on the new recruiting class. We have 6 student writers so we split the games up evenly with 2 guys working each game.Comment

#2 UConn vs #16 Miami tonight at 6pm EST, not a bad early season match up. I'm nervous about this one."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
Uconn advances.
Dominated early. Miami went on a run to cut it to 4 in the first half, but UConn led by 8 almost the whole way.
Hasheem was a force, and A.J. had a very good game. We gave up too many 3's to McClinton, but overall I thought the defense played really wellOriginally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

St. Bonaventure, theyr'e in the A-10 and were actually somewhat of a national powerhouse way back in the day.
Nice win by UConn tonight, pretty funy game to watch. Hash looked good - 19, 14 and 7 blocks."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
I say the conference standings will look like this:
1.) Louisville(Not due to me being a UofL fan, but from looking at their 4 returning startings and have Samardo playing so well so early.)
2.) Notre Dame(Harongody, all you need to say.)
3.) UCONN(Thabeet is already looking good, i think he will go far into the season like this.)
4.) Pittsburgh(Very good looking starting lineup.)
I had a Controversy between Pitt and UCONN being at 3 & 4. But had to go with UCONN due to a more effectinent inside playing team.
5.) Georgetown
6.) Marquette
7.) Cincinatti
8.) Providence
9.) Villanova
10.) Syracuse
11.) DePaul
12.) West Virginia
13.) Seton Hall
14.) Rutgers
15.) St. Johns
16.) USFLouisville BBall - 15-3 (6-0)
