I think we are being screwed, but, unlike college football, rankings are essentially meaningless in college basketball. Besides, we'll have plenty of chances to prove ourselves in conference play. It does irk me that we're ranked behind Ohio State, though. I mean, WTF? We just beat them by 28 in Columbus, handing them their worst home loss ever!

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
well, coming into the season, there were 2 non-conference games that I thought UofL could lose, one in Arizona vs Minnesota(which we did) and the other was UNLV because its the game before the UK rivalry game.
I am concerned about this game. I am worried that UofL may not get up for this game, come out flat, and then do as they have where they get down on themselves and start taking ill advised shots and trying to force things to happen. Everyone keeps telling me that there's no way that Rick will let the guys overlook this game, but the players know which game is after this one.
So, I am going to the game tomorrow night concerned and hoping that we jump out early and watch the Rebels try and climb back into the game, but only enough to keep it within 10pts.
If UofL wins tomorrow night by more than 10, I'll be pleasantly surprised.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Cuse opening up Big East play with a 54-35 halftime lead over Seton Hall. Andy Rautins and Eric Devendorf are lighting it up from downtown, had a span of 5 in like a 2 minute period.
Cuse man was looking bad, Zone slowed it down on there side, The Hall is shooting ice cold from downtown.
Syracuse needs to work on ball control, way to many dumb mistakes into turnovers. This isnt gonna work vs the top of the BE.Paul Harris...thats all

The Syracuse win was encouraging for me to see since WVU plays Seton Hall on Saturday. I'm hoping the week long layoff for WVU won't bother them.Comment

Oh well, I was expecting to be ranked #24 or #25 after the Ohio State win. A road win against Seton Hall on Saturday might get us there but you're right. Rankings mean nothing in basketball, but it is nice to see that # beside your team's name in the box scores. Any word on Mazzulla? I heard that he might sit out the rest of the season and apply for a medical redshirt. I wouldn't mind having him stick around for another season but we need him come tourney time this year.Comment

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
We played a much better game, took more care of the ball, only 8 turnovers compared to 19 against UNC. Huskies on Sat, that one shouldn't be close.Comment

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
I watched most of that Louisville-UNLV game and I was really suprised how bad Louisville is. To say they are not in sync is an understatement. They look like a bunch of guys just going through the motions. What is really killing them is lack of something that resembles a PG. Pitino is a great coach but he really has his work cut out for him this year.Comment

I've said it in various threads and at different points this season, but UofL will be fine. I've listened to these same types of comments in 2005 and last year while UofL was struggling. By the time this month is over UofL will be the beast everyone predicted them to be and we'll be primed to make a deep run in the tournament which I think will be nothing short of the Elite 8.
I know people will disagree and say I'm homering or whatnot, but I've seen this before and I've heard this all before. We'll be fine.. trust me.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

2.7 assists per game. 2.4 turnovers per game. He's too emotional. If he misses a shot he mopes on the defensive end.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
lol that was awesome, I rewinded it about 4 times. Syracuse weakest link right now is obviously its free throw shooting, man it is ugly. But since Harris did not play and Flynn did not have a great game I am ok with this win. Harris should get plenty of rest before the meat of the Big east schedule comes up.
Tonight was probably Flynn's worst game, Missed alot of shots and had a few turnovers. Im sure Jimmy B will give these guys a yellin but you cant win by 30 everygame(unless your UNC)My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment
