Notre Dame's versatility and amount of weapons is impressive, but I'm still not sure if they have the defense needed to get the job done to be a truly "elite" team. That said they can score with almost anyone in the country. But come March I'll have second thoughts picking them to go too far becausei t's always worrysome when you have such a big defensive question mark, unless they make some significant strides.

On a side note regarding Notre Dame, I can't think of many more players that I dislike more than Harangody. Everything about him gets on my nerves. Don't ask.Last edited by crques; 01-06-2009, 01:00 PM.Comment

Yeah, I'd be pretty surprised if ND made it to the Final Four unless they hit a hot streak were all their shooters were knocking everything down from outside."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

'Nova and Hall played a terrific game. 'Nova hung on to win in OT. Scottie Reynolds became the 18th player to score 40pts in a Big East game. Fun game to watch, as is every Big East game.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

No game in the Big East is going to be easy... everyone is a challenge. Reynolds had a great game tonight which is good because he's been struggling shooting this year. Hopefully he'll turn it around with this.Villanova Class of 2012

Good to see Reynolds still has it, I was starting to worry he was turning into Dominic James Pt. II."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

UofL got a good win tonight over USF. This is the 1st time UofL has won their Big East opener. E5 went off tonight for 22pts.

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
I get to watch the West Virginia @ Marquette game today since they're having the free ESPN Gameplan thing for a week (10th-17th). It's been a really good game so far and DeShaun Butler has been doing his thing. 16 points and a three-pointer at the buzzer there to put West Virginia up 31-29 at halftime!
EDIT: Ugh, chalk up another loss.
This team really NEEDS to stop getting into foul trouble, especially DeShaun Butler, who after 16 first-half points, was useless in the second half because he fouled out. Also, getting the other team into the Bonus with 15 minutes to go and 10 minutes to go in the half, as they did against Marquette, doesn't float too well either. And getting your only true point guard into foul trouble is troublesome, as well.
Ah well, it's tough to win on the road. WVU has a couple should-be gimmes against Marshall (At the Charleston Civic Center) and a home game against South Florida coming up. Then comes another seemingly impossible stretch in which the Mountaineers could very well play eight of their next nine games against ranked teams. Boy, the Big East is tough.Last edited by superjames1992; 01-10-2009, 01:48 PM.Comment

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
I don't know if this is the norm for Louisville since I haven't seen them play often this season, but having 25 3-point attempts against Villanova despite having a good post presence seems to me like this team is settling a bit too much on taking long jumpers.
Edit: Clutch layup by Terrence Williams with under 10 seconds to go. Louisville goes back up 61-60.

Man, WVU loses 75-53, too. It looks like a blowout, but it was a close game...
Bye bye top 25 ranking.
Providence is looking to stay undefeated against #10 Georgetown and is up 41-39 in the second half.Comment
