I had really good seats behind the Temple bench and was yelling at JT3 to run a damn play. The good part was that I wasn't the only one.Comment

I don't understand why G-Town still runs this. They have so many athletes that are wasted by walking the ball up the floor every possession.Comment

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Didn't have the level of recruits we have now. Green & Hibbert are NBA players and good one's at that but they weren't big time recruits.
Freeman/Wright/Monroe were all McDonald AA's.
Clark/Thompson/Sims were all high 3 to medium 4 star prospects.
Not only that but back then we had good decision makers/passers all over the court. When your big AA big man is behind the 3pt line for half of the sets it's not using your players wisely.Comment

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
They all knew the type of offense they were getting into before sign at GTown... Is it the style of offense the reason they not better good decision makers/passers? after all they are McDonalds AA (Which means nothing).. I would like to see more postup plays for Monore but he's not only a back to back post player like Hibbert was..
But tell me this, how many times do you see Gtown run the shot clock down under 10 secs and jack up a horrible shot?Comment

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
I'm sure they were told various things to get them to commit. The style of the offense puts poor decision makers in bad situations. McDonalds AA's mean that they are the cream of the crop. I don't mind how much Monroe is used when compared to Hibbert.
But tell me this, how many times do you see Gtown run the shot clock down under 10 secs and jack up a horrible shot?
That will contiune to happen until somebody steps up !! Then JTIII will go to them like he did Jeff Green, Jothnan Wallace, and Roy Hibbert...

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
I'm a have to agree with mvb34 on this one, there seems to be a lot of questioning of JTIII. When we should really be asking if Monroe is even ready to jump to the league. He just doesn't look that aggressive when he has the ball. I heard a lot of talk about it being his team but he just doesn't look like he has that fire in his eye and he hasn't yet realized that as he goes so goes the team. It was like that with Green and Hibbert. My teams:
NFL:Washington Redskins
NCAAFB:Notre Dame
NBA:Los Angeles Lakers
NCAABB:Georgetown Hoyas
MLB:Washington Nationals

Do you want your best player and the should be focus of the offense standing on the 3pt line? How about David Vaughn dribbling at defenders and making decisions looking for back door cuts?
If you've noticed, the back door cuts haven't worked that well in the past 3 years because teams are prepared for that. It was a great change of place at first but the offense is very stangnat. Unless we shoot lights out like we did @ UCONN last year we're gonna struggle in close games like we did with ND, Seton Hall, Cincy, Marquette and the worst, St. Johns.
And MVB, we've had quite a few transfers lately.

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
That doesn't matter, it's about getting the most out of your personnel, if they pushed the ball who's to say they don't win it all? The Princeton offense equalizes athleticism, that's a bad thing in GTown's case especially when playing inferior opponents.
We ran the same offense in college and we had a pretty athletic team. After my sophomore year the coach was fired and the assistant got promoted - first thing he did was scrap the Princeton stuff and put in an up tempo offense. We had the second best offense in our conference my junior year and our two most athletic players had a big jump in their scoring numbers, one went from around 7 to 16 and the other went from 3 to 11.
The Princeton stuff is archaic IMO, you can win some games with it in the right situation but long term it's not a great system anymore. Questioning Monroe's readiness for the NBA based on what he does in the Princeton offense is absurd, little of it translates to NBA offensive sets.Last edited by ehh; 11-19-2009, 12:04 PM."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
I'm not questioning his readiness based off of what he does in the Princeton Offense, I am making my assumptions based off his demeanor during the game and his willingness to be selfish when Gtown needs it. Like for instance in the Temple game when Gtown needed a bucket he should have been demanding the ball. The Hoyas need a leader wether by your actions on the court or being vocal. My teams:
NFL:Washington Redskins
NCAAFB:Notre Dame
NBA:Los Angeles Lakers

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Monroe is more skilled than Hibbert & Jeff Green were at Gtown. Both of them were very passive at Gtown and one of the huge criticisms of JT3 was that he never got Hibbert enough touches in the post. Out of all the good big men Gtown has had Monroe might be the most skilled offensively at this point although Sweetney was very good for us, just the team wasn't that good. He would have been a late lottery pick last year. The NBA draft now is on potential.

Also the 76ers is running a form of the Princeton Offense it must translate in some in NBA sets..Comment
