Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
That's how it seems. If 2k took the options out there was a reason wouldn't you think?
Im agreeing with JWill...I used to argue with him that defense was broken in past years. He helped me understand my D wasn't as good as I thoughtLast edited by Rockie_Fresh88; 11-20-2013, 10:46 AM.#1 Laker fan

Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
I guess the old defensive settings were a bit tedious for many, so I can see them adding quick options, but they have to put the old system back in. No way global settings will cut it. Every team with a slasher & a shooter becomes deadly.
C'mon 2K. No way you'd leave us hanging like this.Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?Comment

Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
Let me clarify I'm not saying the options shouldn't be there both POE and manual defensive settings should. Also I have no problem with bringing it to 2ks attention.
My point is you can still play defense pretty good through POE that's all I'm saying .#1 Laker fan

Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
This, both should be available, but as it right now you are forced to play more offball in order to control your players (from helping). With the old system you could manually set what they do so you could play onball more and know what the other players would do.
Since it's confirmed that it was in prepatch, no reason it couldn't be put back in (assuming) but its been taken out for some reason hopefully to correct/fix/adjust/upgrade."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment

Another thing the patch introduced was the constant crowding by the defense when you call for a screen.Comment

Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
It all boils down to taking away options in the grand scheme of things. I enjoy the game but it seems they want people to play the game they do and are saying JUST DEAL WITH IT.I guess the old defensive settings were a bit tedious for many, so I can see them adding quick options, but they have to put the old system back in. No way global settings will cut it. Every team with a slasher & a shooter becomes deadly.

Custom POEs.
Tendency adjustments? As in a boost to a player's tendency? Cool if that forces them to do the right thing.
However, we still need to be able to scheme.
I also wonder if the tedency/coaching sliders affected by POEs shouldn't be seperated out and presented in my Gameplan suggestion. Perhaps a page showing offensive sliders affected by offensive POEs, and defensive sliders affected by defensive POEs (along with the Defensive Settings).
This way, we can actually SEE what each POE does. It should allow us to page through different POE settings just like we can with Defensive Settings and Custom vs. Quick Defense configurations in current-gen. Modifying any setting under a POE should cause it to switch to "Custom", just like what happens with sliders.
There needs to be more transparency and more control. CG did it right. They should just follow the same format except include tendency/profile settings into the mix.Last edited by Sundown; 12-19-2013, 04:01 PM.Comment

Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
I would love to see 2k input how to play off ball screens as well, but in doing so I'd also like to see the offensive AI know how to read coming off those down screens or pin downs if this is to be put in the game.
Ive wanted this for years as well. The ability to read how the defense is playing off ball. But the more defensive options we have the more sim and realistic you can become with defensive game planning to mimic real life.Basketball Playbooks

Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
Fyi. 95 percent of the players on hof sim have 99 def awarness and 90 plus on ball defense. I think this was done to disguise the lack of defensive settings. I doubt the rotations are better next gen it is just that every defender is a 99 def awarness. That is cpu and user. Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
Well this helps me because I was looking all over for this feature...lol... I didn't have the current gen so I thought they may have taken it out all together. It is kind of hard to believe with 2k since they put some much effort into the nuances of the gameplay. I'm still having a great time but I just miss gambling and sending double teams late in games and sometimes being a genius while others being the scapegoat...Comment

So everyone in the league is 1st team all defense caliber?! LOL
Thats 1 thing that drives me crazy is quick fixes and trying to disguise the problem which just causes other problems.Basketball Playbooks

Re: Defensive Settings Completely Removed from Next-Gen.
Guys I've been following the entire thread & I agree they should keep both but since they patched it out, we have to deal with what we have & learn to play without those defensive options.
Also, why not just thoroughly test out POEs. Play an entire game & monitor only 1 POE per game or per quarter and see what it does and how it players react… etc."It's about damn time... It's about damn time.” - LeBron JamesComment

What do you expect from HOF? I don't agree with user but I get all CPU getting major boosts on HOF.Fyi. 95 percent of the players on hof sim have 99 def awarness and 90 plus on ball defense.
