Re: NBA 2k Should have Females in Myplayer
Why should they gauge an interest on something that doesn't exist? There aren't women in the NBA, period. You don't consider that argument, yet you consider the argument that they should "look into it to determan if there is a minimal interest" just because? Would you goto a WNBA game forum and argue there should be men in it?
My Career is a mode so players can create a player and become as good as possible at a position of their choice. Whether they become stars or not is determined by their level of play. What is unrealistic about this? There were no 7" stars in the NBA? Ralph Sampson, Shaquile Onel, Yao Ming...
Also, the black top is supposed to emulate the Rutgers blacktop. An infamous NY league where underground stars and future NBA players showcased their skills for decades. It's where Doctor Jay built his reputation. Women have never been a part of that.
Infringing on other player's experiences just to include something that doesn't even make sense to include, is definitely a valid argument. Why is it not to you? What if there is someone (like myself) who plays to live vicariously through an avatar who has abilities I wish I was born with, who's experience would be ruined due to being forced to play someone who thought it was cool to be a female character? That just isn't a valid argument to you? Sorry, but gauging a want for something just because, isn't a valid one to me.
I also play NBA2K because I'd like a break from all the games centered around killing people and/or online games where there are dudes playing as half naked females.
The problem isn't ONLY whether or not there is enough people who would want female characters, but ALSO how many players this inclusion would affect. In an already massively successful game, I regress, this discussion is extremely lackluster.
Same thing with gta V. I see women but I see men most often.
The park is not supposed to emulate anything. Blacktop may have, but the park is just pickup basketball. Places like Rucker park and stuff like that have more fanfare when prospects or nba stars play there. The park has none of that, and you act like there's never been female ballers at rucker park before. There have been mixed games at rucker park and women even have their own leagues there. Come on man.#dairyfreeComment

Re: NBA 2k Should have Females in Myplayer
Last time I checked, the euroleague is not apart of the NBA. That might have changed recently tho?
To the people saying now, can you at least justify your reason? Your don't want your myplayer being schooled at the park by a female? That's a lame excuse. Honestly, I can't see a reason not to unless females are built differently in the game and it allows cheese. You're not going to play sim with them. I don't know about yall, but I never see a person play player to player sim games. Is that possible? I don't think so, so whats the big deal if a woman is in the game?
Focusing on customizing a player is a great reason, I'll say that, but eventually, It would be neat if they did. Cause its more or less an isolated gamemode outside the park/blacktop mode.Comment

Could you imagine how much VC make-up and other accessories would cost?!?Comment

If it was only for the park, then i'm all for it. Otherwise its all academic because the NBA wouldn't even allow it in the game.Comment

Re: NBA 2k Should have Females in Myplayer
I'm personally not fond of the idea for a woman playing in the nba. However, in a video game for a personal preference, why shouldn't it be allowed? Lets say, women are NOT featured in the park, but can be for career mode, how many people would be against it here? EVEN THOUGH THE PLAYER CANNOT interact with other players? I bet you the people who are saying no are still against that.
My question is Why? its their career and it's going in the direction of story telling? a narrative that resonates with the player? I'm putting it in my shoes, If I followed a popular aggressive female sport, but there were no way I can create a dude, I'd kinda be like yo this sucks. Especially if I'm a die hard fan of the product.
Like a previous user said, I think computer generated female rookies would be a stretch. Too much. And to be honest, I was just asking for a skin, not really a overhaul change to animation and physics of the game.
and I only think 2k should do this if they field a survey and found it to be in their best interest to do so. If they don't then move continue, business as usual. They should look into it though.
People are making it sound like a gender skin is really that hard to do. Yeah, I'm sure I can't do, but please stop acting like its going to take away from 2k's gameplay improvements. Yeah, we can't create a female player, because it'll divert the attention off fixing Mygm. hahah. Sorry. That was just an illogical reply I saw on here.#dairyfreeComment

Re: NBA 2k Should have Females in Myplayer
Thanks Captain Obvious. It is a fantasy within the NBA boundaries. If you are able to have a female MyCareer player then random female rookies will start getting generated and drafted in Season 2 and beyond and I'm pretty sure most players would not like that. As much as it is a fantasy, it is believable fantasy - that's why the mode is so popular with people. Come on now.Last edited by patchwork; 01-02-2014, 12:57 PM.Comment
