Forgot how good CHoops sounded. The crowd reacted appropriately to what's going on on the court.

If I recall didn't one of the Choops games have create a chant?

      This is the one

This idea could've evolved into something great over time.

I Hope they really look into how the NBA atmosphere really is though sound wise

Wow, man I took the early to mid 2000's sports gaming for granted. I miss having a college bball game where you could import rookies into the NBA game. It just felt like the players you'd draft could have a bit of a story behind them. I remember I made a once in a lifetime recruit in my legacy and I was at UCLA and I thought I had him but he ended up going to Texas. His name was LaMicheal James (distant relative of LeBron), a 6'10 athletic monster who could do everything. He ended up winning the national championship the next year and was drafted number 1 by the Chicago Bulls in my association. He actually was an all-star his first year in the NBA too.

We can't get experiences like that anymore because this genre is so barren now. One hockey game, one football game, one baseball game, no college games, and for a couple of years there was only one basketball game. It's crazy. We don't even have those arcade games anymore like the Street series, NBA Ballers, etc.

Another thing about the 6th Man is when you got on your run as the home team you could actually feel like the home crowd was helping your players. Also when you were visiting and the home crowd got the 6th man behind them you knew it could be trouble. That's a dynamic that's been sorely missed

                  Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere

Has the audio guru for NBA2k sports ever had a sit down Q&A session with anyone from the media, or even OS? Is there anyway to get some insight from the audio engineer down at 2k? Anyone have a twitter account to contact DustinT? This might be our only chance. Maybe the audio in 2k hasn't changed because the team simply believes the sounds of the game are realistically represented.

This whole thing is giving me flashbacks to Gran Turismo vs. Forza in game soundbites. A large percentage of the Gran Turismo community has always brought up concerns about the game's audio but it still remains the same. Forza's audio engineer seems to give the gamer a real feeling from an audio standpoint.

Hey OS, Senior Editor Dustin Toms (@DustinToms) here. Release season is upon us, and the next big NBA title is coming up.

We've been invited to spend a day with NBA 2K this Thursday, September 10. I'll be flying down to The Hangar and have hands-on experience with NBA 2K16, conversations with the developers and opportunities to capture some gameplay footage (which will debut on the Operation Sports YouTube channel). We will surely come back with even more information overload for OSers to try and process.

Now this is where you come in: what do you want to know about NBA 2K16? Post your questions here, or ask me directly on Twitter at @DustinToms. I'll take a list of the best questions with me, and have answers for you shortly after. If you ask me on Twitter, I'll reply directly to you!

                  Fire away below, OSers!

                    Improving Audio and Atmosphere

From the looks of it, I understand how hype some get going through these moments.

In 2K's defense, they do a pretty good job in crowd level and the net sounds pretty sweet.

In precedent, I would put that thump I hear on Melo's shots, Derrick Rose's clip though it really isn't necessary. Another observation from what is presented on the videos is probably the emphasis on commentaries. The detail in term's of oh the player's name, the seconds left on the clock, the "puts his team up 1", the timeouts left, maybe even the "AND THE BULLS.... HAVE JUST STUNNED, THE SO AND SO's.

But this, that and the third. . . that's about it. I don't hold 2k accountable, if they disregard the messages conveyed in terms of sounds. Is the people's reaction going to be worth it though? You bet.

How much it changes the game with proper net/dunk/rim sounds. Listen to that swish man. I hope some PC guys can mod it for 2K16.

It makes such a huge difference. This is one thing I feel gets overlooked every year and it seems so simple. The equipment exists nowadays to capture high quality realistic sound effects.

This is something that can actually be updated in a patch but i'm not sure how much of a priority it is for them. This small audio improvement would make a world of difference though. It makes the gaming experience more immersive.

                            Sounds beautiful.
Also made me think that I'd like to hear guys scream "And one" here and there when they try to get the foul.

Aside from the crowd and the sound of the net/swish. I don't care much about the other stuff. It's all fine as is imo.

Looks like based on the game play vids the net and rim sounds have been improved. The sound when a dunk is made is still the same old 2k sound. Was hoping to have that changed. The net seems to be thicker and have more pop when the ball goes through.
