Time for 2k to really dig into this for next year...should be top priority for the sound team..

assuming there is a 'sound team'

        Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere

After getting some time with the game again this weekend, I'll re-iterate the need for sustained authentic crowd noise as well. By that I mean, for those moments when the home team goes on a big run and the crowd begins getting rowdy, then immediately silences once time-out is called — that type of thing. The sound transitions have just been stark and unnatural for some time now.

That said, I see some improvements, just not as much as I figured I'd see by the time we reached 2016 on a new console. For instance, hearing chants of "DE-FENSE" prior to a last minute sideline inbounds was cool, until it stopped after two chants and prior to the actual inbound pass... before randomly starting then stopping again once the ball was in play.

The better the rest of the game gets, the more all this audio stuff sticks out. It still seems stuck in 2007 in many regards. I think I say it every time, but I've always been interested in why this aspect appears so difficult. It seems like Live's had historically better samples over the years (in some areas, anyway). And I don't say that as a 2K vs. Live thing, more just a wonder of "If others have proven it possible, what's the hang-up here?"

Honestly it shouldn't even be a thing whether its brought up by customers. Like, bad audio is bad audio.

Fake arena sounds, fake rim and net sounds

Bad crowd sound... and how many years has it been now where that does that famous cut out in the middle of a game and it's never been touched?

At this point they really need a professional sound engineer to get some authentic sounds man... its that bad at this point.

..and while it may halt some creativity or whatever, they really need to get some authentic license for presentation. This isn't NBA2K anymore (as in the year 2000)

It's just certain aspects that make it feel so dated, but anyway

The atmosphere besides probably having played the game too much, it turns me off. I can't sit through the bore of it anymore.

..and working on the crowd who only stands or stomps their feet the last 2 minutes of a game... who's idea was that? That doesn't even happen in an NBA game.

What me bothers most is outdated PA announcer who is prolly 5-6 yrs outdated and i notice it primarly by players who played @ Hawks at some point in their careers. For example Jamaal Crawford played for Hawks from 2009 till 2011 and whenever he scores 3pt you can hear that ATL announcer Jamaal Crawford for threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, same goes with Josh Smith, Joe Johnson and others who played at ATL at that time. It should be updated PA each year instead of this .. smh

There's supposedly a 'pro-am team'. And they couldn't even finish pro-am until a month and a half into the game.

                Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere

Suggestion: Have announcers record more lines that make them "Aware" of what is going on (especially in MyCareer)

Example: RECORDS/Stats - Need to acknowledge things like record breaking performances while they are happening (the game knows, but nothing is said) and previous game/season records.

In a video game where you can break all kinds of records - it'd be way fun to hear the announcers say SOMETHING about it, they remain totally unaware.

They also need to do a better job of knowing what year it is - they say the same thing about teams every season even if you're 10 years in (talking about the King's stadium being built shouldn't be mentioned after season 1, for example)

This isnt really a complaint thread guys. If you can post some helpful audio clips or video to present to 2k do it.

We dont need yet anothwr thread full of paragraphs of complaints.

                    Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere

Currently playing a playoff series with the Spurs, my first of 2K16. What stands out to me is just the blatant lack of recognition by the crowd relating to cheering. The defence chants or sounds just start automatically and sound as fake as anything. Never any actually any reaction to earth shattering dunks, emphatic rejections, flashy passes.

Run recognition is by far the worse thing. A few times I went on big runs with the Spurs, drained consecutive threes, forced New Orleans into a timeout. The crowd was basically silent. Playoff time Spurs fans would be going absolutely wild. Same thing happens during the game too when you miss a few consecutive shots or get a few stops. The crowd might start to fire up, but then they completely forget to cheer.

Also I'm at a lost why 2K hasn't ever gone to each stadium and got the sounds they use each game. When we could actually use custom sounds it was blatantly obvious how much was missing sound wise.

The commentators in this game do not help one bit either. Kevin Harlan commentates with far less enthusiasm and substance that he does in real life. None of the loud "CURRY FOR THREEEE, GOOOOOOOD" lines. Honestly I'm starting to change my opinion to one that thinks that the three just completely suck together. I've never been a fan of Kellogg, and Anthony just seems really boring. As much as I hate Reggie Miller and Chris Webber's commentary at least they'd have some actual chemistry with Harlan and the two of them could commentate a lot more like they do on TNT.

                      Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere

Let's just start with realistic rim sounds when players dunks the ball and there should be many different sounds when doing it.

                      * Rimgrazing dunks shouldn't even be heard unless there is no real noise in stands

                      * One handed slams should have moderate volume depending on dunk intensity vs crowd noise.

                      * Really athletic tomahawks should be heard even if there is real noise in crowds and even more if crowd is not very noise.

Now about net sounds, layup shouldn't have same sound as swish trey by any means. Also free throws that don't fall straight in shouldn't have that swish sound.

                        Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere

                        There are two things I can't emphasize enough about the audio that needs to change;
The crowd intensity. There are so many times when I'm playing at home with a sold out crowd, and I could be stringing together an offensive run, and the crowd BARELY cheers. Also, there are times when you can hear the crowd go nuts over a play, but the actual crowd isn't really moving. It looks stupid every time.

My other concern is the sound of the rim when it's dunked on, shot on, hung off of, swished through, bricked, and so on. Simply put, the audio on the net is awful. I swear a lot of the audio I hear from the net is audio that dates back to the old 2k games on the Xbox.

Please fix this, 2k. It'll enhance the experience, making the game more fun.

fix the delay sound for when some blocks a shot.

When they make jumpers I still hear that bad hollow sound which I could capture some audio for you just so you could see what I mean and I will because its so off.
I feel like 2k got those sounds while they were in a small, empty warehouse when they need to go to an arena to capture the rim sounds. Including having a mic on the rim. I feel like it wouldn't take that long to do, MAYBE a day? But then again, I'm not a programmer or someone who designs video games so I don't know. Rim bends and sounds have needed improving for a while. I've never heard a stanchion crunch when someone dunks like they do in 2k haha
