Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
I feel like 2k got those sounds while they were in a small, empty warehouse when they need to go to an arena to capture the rim sounds. Including having a mic on the rim. I feel like it wouldn't take that long to do, MAYBE a day? But then again, I'm not a programmer or someone who designs video games so I don't know. Rim bends and sounds have needed improving for a while. I've never heard a stanchion crunch when someone dunks like they do in 2k haha
They can do it. Obviously audio is not a priority. It's adequate but that's not good enough !Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
The worse crowd chant ever is the one where the crowd sounds like a bunch of zombies, and it plays in every arena
go team go...really slow and low pitched. Listen for it the next time you play.
That's not in anyone's arena. It's things like that, where I wonder how it gets tin the game period.
I also think they need some music different than the soundtrack to play during time outs..instrumentals would be fineComment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
Nothing breaks immersion more when you're playing with a team that's been rebranded/relocated and the best your crowd can do is some weak cheers you hear at middle-school basketball games. 2K, back in the College Hoops days, used to allow you to create your own cheers/chants for your homecrowd and I'd really like to see that again.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
After EA released that blog though about their audio and how clear it sounds, it's definitely time for 2k to step up the sounds. The atmosphere is very Dreamcast-ish, i hate to say.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
That's strange because it makes such a huge difference. Just gotta watch some edited gameplay with real life sounds. It's crazy.
But yeah I can tottaly see us having that same discussion, right here in this thread in 2024.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
Great thread
Just to add some things I'd like:
(Dont know how to format on Tapatalk.)
1. Deafening crowds.
Even in close games the crowd feels far away from the game. I'd like crowd volume that makes it feel like I'm in the center of a madhouse in a vlose game. Especially in a playoff game.
2. Announcers noticing CAPs with set names in MyLeague / MyGM.
They often, but not always, say the name during lineup changes but not so much after. And if you play MyLeague for a number of years it can break immersion if a CAP does something, and the announcers just ignores it. It'd be nice to just have that aspect of the game more involved.
3. (Pipe Dream) I'd like a little more player trash talk. Nothing KGish but something fun that would make me say "Well damn..." this should play into traits like expressive and unpredictable. Where guys could say anything.
4. This may be unpopular but Kenny, Shaq, and Ernie are the best and worst part of the MyLeague experience for me. Because of the nature of MyLeague CAPs come in and out of the league with names that are in the game. But those three great personalities never reference any of them. In my 2nd year of MyLeague there was a rookie averaging 15/5/3 night in and night out for the Bucks. Yet when I played them Ernie brought up the Lakers moving up to draft Russell two years ago. It was a bit disappointing. I would like to see them add that kind of stuff, however unlikely.
5. Half time and post game interviews sound awful to me. Like they were recorded in a bathroom. Maybe its just me but I'd like it to be clearer and to hear the fatigue or excitement of players. But that probably isn't easy.
6. Player screams. Add it. When Russ dunks. I want to hear it because I play with player chatter at max. I want to revel in that passion.
7. Mike Breen. I would sign a contract promising to buy this game every year for 5 years to hear Baaaang! Or "Puts it in". Honestly sometimes it seems like the announcers are casually watching the game in between quips. I rarely get that hair tingling excitement from them. I want that "HE GOT IT!" feeling.
8. Or better integrate Anthony. He is so awkward and out of place. He talks on top of Kellogg and Harlan. Not with them. Its weird.Last edited by de_jesus; 07-23-2016, 12:49 AM.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
If this doesn't get addressed and improved for 17 I wil be at a loss of words.
Literally since 99 2k has had the worst sound in sports video games.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
And the same dialogue is recycled year after year. I think they should take the time to get some new audio from Kellog and Harlan. Plus the crowd doesn't even get into the game unless it's a close game in the final minute of the fourth. Even then, it doesn't sound authentic. I think they are heading in the right direction, especially adding the animation where the crowd jumps and cheers if you make the game winning shot, but they need to build off of that.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
The crowd seems to cheer for the wrong team at times. You will see a visiting team hit a big late shot and the home crowd will roarComment
