Re: NBA 2K15 (Next Gen.) Official MyCAREER Thread

Hi all, first time posting here.

I'm currently in my second season in MyCareer. I'm a 6'5" SG, played my first season with The Nuggets. It had its ups and downs; Ty Lawson broke his ankle right after I was put into the starting line up, Nate Robinson would ALWAYS settle for jump shots and they would ALWAYS get blocked, because he's a damn dwarf out there. But Kenneth Faried was a rebound machine (which isn't saying much with how freakin easy it is in this game) and would always drive to the basket when I fed him the ball. Our team was constantly shuffling in and out of the final two playoff spots toward the end of the season, but we finished the season winning 11 of our last 10 games and go the 7th seed in the West. Problem with that was, we went up against The Thunder in the 1st round. As I'm sure you've already guessed if you're at familiar with the super team cheese, but we got manhandled. Lost the series 4-1.

If you're still in your first season and you are frustrated with the play of your teammates, and/or or your player, the offseason is when you can remedy all that. As long as you pick the right team. If you're good enough at the end of your first season, you can pick any team in the league to go to. I picked The Bulls, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. We're currently 24-2 on the season. I'm averaging 30/9/7 as well as 3.5 stls and 2 blks per game (I'm leading the league in blocks...as a SG!!!!). Rose and I make probably the best backcourt in the league. Noah is an absolute BEAST in the game, grabs boards, hustle plays, runs the floor, finishes at the rim. McDermott didn't shoot much at first, but as the team chemistry has gone up, he's become more aggressive on offense. Only complaints would be that Rose settles for pulling up when he drives to the basket too often (he can totally finish at the rim, I throw him lobs all the damn time) and that Taj Gibson is out for a few months with an injury. Oh, also Nikola Mirotic thinks he's the next Dirk Nowitzki. Dude always does the Dirk fade away when I pass him the ball anywhere in the mid range area, but his release is so bad, the ball always clanks off the side of the backboard. So Nikola doesn't get too many touches anymore. But otherwise I'm enjoying MyCareer now, although the cheese can get borderline infuriating at times. I play on Superstar Sim, tried HOF for a stretch of games, but just couldn't deal with the cheese. It's still there on Superstar, but at a level I can deal with.

2K15 MyCareer is just cartoony. It's hard to take seriously. The storyline is nice, albeit incredibly cheesy and cliche and clunky. But it's 2K...not Rockstar or Bethesda. Some of my favorite moments in 2k15 are the ones the defy logic or just make me laugh. Like NBA players from each team reading a prepared script from the 2K team. Or when I'm playing The Warriors and Stephen Curry fouls me, the camera pans over to Steve Kerr flipping his s**t on the sidelines, as I hear Steve Kerr say "I thought that was a good call, guys". Or how only 2 of my teammates are following me on social media. C'mon guys, where's the love? And as a person who loves collecting rebounds, I'm getting a lot of enjoyment in how easy it is to grabs boards in this game. Next player I make is definitely gonna be a 7'3" center.

Isn't there a cut scene where you go shoot jumpers with a teammate in the empty arena or something and you get a badge for "legendary work ethic" or something? When/how does that unlock? Anybody had this yet?

I have a tough time believing that this game isn't scripted at times. I've replayed my game against the Pelicans like 4 times (don't judge) and every single time we get outscored by over 20 in the second half. Last game Jeff Withey put up a 19-14. Jeff Withey!! Makes it really frustrating knowing that there's nothing you can do to win a game sometimes.

Without a doubt there are scripted games. I was playing The Thunder my rookie season, got subbed out, Thunder went up by 20 by the time I got subbed back in during the 3rd. We managed to come all the way back to tie it with 2 mins left, but then, of course...the hall of fame cheese was too much. We just went cold in in the clutch, couldn't stop KD, or anybody for that matter. It was sad.

No doubt whatsoever. I just played the Raptors on my home court. In the 2nd half the Raptors shot 12 free throws. My team, the Bulls shot 2 despite me literally living in the paint. At one point I pump faked Patrick Patterson onto my back after an offensive board and still didn't get the call. The Raptors outscored us 37-24 in the 4th quarter after failing to break 25 in a quarter all game. Ridiculous.

EDIT: Can't forget the missed dunk on Patterson that what a blatant foul and goal tend. He warps through the rim and I miss the dunk. No call.

Another loss in a game we (Wolves) should have won.. this second year isn't any better than the first..

Lost 103-95 to the Knicks.. Wolves shot 41%.. LaVine is a pain to play with .. he took 18 shots in this game.. going 5/18 and missing all three 3's.. plus 4 turnovers..

JJ Barea played 9 minutes and took 7 shots.. he made 1..

Budinger is STILL on this team and he hasn't played a minute

My 25 pts 18 boards (9 offensive) and 8 assists again are a waste .. and post-game I tell Brewer I have to get better, and do MORE ..

We're in last place again.. of course.. 2-8 record to start my second season.. really starting to wish I hadn't stayed with the Wolves the way this is going.. Team chemistry stuck at 81% still.. we have NO 3-point shooter.. LaVine should make 1 or 2 a game but he's sucked bad as the starter so far in THIS career anyway.

Because I have to make all the assists, we're almost LAST in the league at 18 per game..

I'd rather have Candice than Andrew Wiggins .. he's shooting 38% LaVine is shooting 42% Pekovic is just as garbage as my rookie season.. he's BARELY at 40%.. whoever said 2K tried to match them closer to their real stats was wrong.. Pek is a 53% or so career shooter who has been worthless in 2k14 and 2k15 for me as a teammate. He shot 44% in my rookie season here and the rate he's going he won't be anywhere NEAR that.

I can't even imagine what it would've been like to stick with my first year team. I was outties as soon as the offseason came around. If I were you, I'd jump ship to a better team. Your teammates will still play way below their capabilities, but at least the superstars will do something.

Played the Thunder a couple of times. Depressing. Gave me an overwhelming sense of helplessness, like there was nothing I could do. But it isn't just KD and Westbrook beasting, or their defense, it felt like my teammates played way way worse than normal against them. My teammates are generally ok (except Lillard, who is worse than Beno Udrih no joke), but they fulfilled all the "crappy mycareer teammate" stereotypes vs the Thunder.

Really hope they somehow lose before I face them in the playoffs

                          *SIGH*

Well just finished a game against the Thunder. 1st quarter was good. Trying to watch my shots to avoid shooting fatigue. At the quarter break we're (Bulls) down one and I've got 6 points and a couple assists. After my obligatory break to start the 2nd I come in and we're down 18. Nobody but my guy can shoot (Rose is particularly bad) or play defense while Ibaka is nailing fadaway jumpers. I oddly get subbed out again in the second for a minute or so to come back in and find we're now down almost 30. At the half I'm actually outscoring Durant 17 to 15.

2nd half more of the same. Get subbed out and come back to a near 40 point massacre. I finish with 30 on 3 of 5 from 3 and whatever the rest works out to be. My teammates are atrocious. Pretty frustrating. Think I'll give Live a go while I wait for the patch and hope it fixes the cheese and imbalances (it won't though).

That's such a huge disparity between you two lol.

I guess that makes me feel better that I haven't had it yet, November of Season #2.

Any idea what triggered it? A terrible shooting game or something?

Noting really triggered it. I just won the title with the Rockets and went to the Cavs. First game with them and I get this scene.
