I'm playing on HOF in my First season just to maximize my VC for now. When I get on a new team I might lower it if they shoot terrible.
I play on SS/SIM. I averaged a triple double (PPG, APG, RPG) last year and so far this year (3rd) am doing the same.

I lead my team in turnovers ( the team leads the league in fewest, ironically) but I refuse to change my approach or to play the asinine minigame passing with icons.

SS/SIM still has times that encourage nerd-rage and controller breaking but I found it to be overall better at keeping my teammates playing realistic.

Kobe is leading our team in PPG (3rd ovr last season) but some games he needs 30+ shots to get his. Hill is not Superman on the boards but I can count on him as a double-double man game-in and game-out.

Randle is turning out to be a great third option, getting a lot of his points on put-backs, etc. Sometimes I wonder if people have a realistic expectation of what a third scoring option should be producing.

There are games which frustrate the heck out of me (eg the Thunder have won every game I played against them in 3 seasons) but I do feel better about the "cheese" that happens this year more than in past years.

The iso badges only light up when you ankle break someone, I think. Dimer only lights up when you assist, and sometimes even when you assist it doesn't light up. Weird.

The game is scripted to bring you back to the 'mean'. It won't let you shoot too far above the number it has assigned to you. The further you get away from it, the increased chance it will make you fail. I believe some games you are assigned lower stats which is why one game you are 'normal' and the next you are missing wide open dunks. Sometimes it is scripted that you can't get any more assists/rebounds (like after you have 7 in the first quarter). The ball will magically bounce away from you, the player will brick a 99.999% chance to make shot, etc. If you play this game long enough...we all see the pattern. I roll my eyes when I see it.

        Scripted like this:

Started a new SF. I tracked what my team's shooting percentage was when I passed them the ball. "Pass them the ball" means they have a wide open jump shot/layup/dunk". In my last game (had 11 and 8 assists In the previous games) my team shot 3-19 on shots coming off a pass from me while shooting 80% on passes from someone else. How can EA say that is not scripted? It's why I HATE playing an "assist" orientated guy. You are at the complete mercy of the computer script on whether you get 3 or 20. It has NOTHING to do with the shot type which is the greatest BS of ALL TIME.

It seems like the game is really trying to adjust to the fact that Lance Stephenson is out for 2.5 months, but playing me for the first 30 minutes of the game without a break(other than halftime) isn't the answer. We have only 1 other 2-guard in Hairston, no SFs that can play SG other than me and I don't get much run at the 2 and no PGs that are big enough to play the 2(all 6'2" or shorter). The only way I see the bench is if I pick up 2 fouls in the 1st quarter. The problem with that is, the game doesn't recognize foul trouble beyond that and I have to play the rest of the game on eggshells so I don't pick up 3-6 too quickly. Having to burn turbo to make the simplest movements smoothly further kills my stamina.

I also play on Superstar/Sim shoot 82% , always have a triple-double, most of the time a quad-double due to steals. 56.1 points, 19.1 assists, 9.8 rebounds and 13 steals. I think a lot of this has to do with me starting out on casual grinding to get badges. I am rated a 96 and am the smallest tick away from 97. My offense is at 95 and defense at 92.

I score the majority of my points driving the lane off Pick and Rolls/making space, I shoot about 5-6 three's a game, end up finishing the fast break quite a bit, but I spend a lot of time in the high post. Post Fadeaways, Hops and Stepbacks are almost always money for me due to creating space and making deadeye plus the aforementioned post badges fire. I am not always shooting from the post, though, I like to back down and draw a double and feed my teammates. I can also easily set my players up from the perimeter by running plays and feeding the post.

King of Euros and Hop-Stepper almost always draw an And 1 after breaking down the defense with dribble moves, hesitations and pet size ups if I don't feel like I will successfully posterize the defender.

If all those options are exhausted I will resort to shot creator from 15-17 feet (elite dribble pull up 2).

On Court Coach makes all of this so much easier.

I had to start playing like this pre-patch because my teammates wouldn't/couldn't score enough points to actually win games. I would much prefer to score less and focus on utilizing the ridiculous weapons on my team (Kyrie, DeRozan, Waiters, LeBron, Love, Thompson and Howard).

I also play a Small Forward who is a lot more traditional on HoF/Sim. I have been considering moving my point guards difficulty, but I primarily made him to play in the park/rec/stage with so MyCareer is more of a means to an end for him where my SF I keep out of the park.

I got shoved in the back going up for a dunk and it altered my shot and I missed but that never effects the CPU.

Happens to me when there is an eraser on the other team who picks me up on the drive. After the patch Euro-Step became my best friend for these situations. Not only do I almost always make it, but I usually end up getting fouled.

I use the guard layup package as it seems at 6'4 Harden, LeBron and KD's don't seem very efffective. With CP3's Eurostep just ends up getting blocked and I don't care for any other of the point guard or shooting guard packages.

Plus the reverse lay up almost never gets blocked and the double clutches are damn near the perfect release feeling.

I do like Jordan and Rose's packages, but I have a very low crash tendency so I just stick with the guard package.

Just a reminder I don't equip any under the basket or baseline dunks. Although I can throw the baseline one hander off one on there and it works beautifully, but I prefer the reverse layup to avoid exactly what you mentioned every happening. It also increases my chance at posterizing with a dunk like athletic hangs off two (I wish we could get the Front Clutches package, though).

How many times does the scene happen where you can either be ejected or walk away after a hard foul? Only in year 2 and it's happened once.

We just held the bulls to 33% shooting for an entire game.

                          I think it's broken.

The shoved in the back, the horse collar, the elbow to the chest/neck/head, the stiff arm animations all piss me off; when they happen against me/my team it's almost always a no-call, but when it happens to the CPU it's a flagrant 1 or at the very least a common foul.

Also, the hands up should never trigger these; I've been called for flagrants on the hands up animation at least 7 times for randomly stiff arming and elbowing my guy and it's stupid.

Why is it that the cpu still makes the majority of its contested layups, that includes layups where they get bodied up by the defender. Whether its a big or a guard they make a large amount of them. Yet when the starting center on my knicks team who is 7'2 and 250+ lbs is slightly nudged at the rim by a guard, he completely bricks the layup. i also wanna know why whenever there is a loose ball, or a rebound gets fumbled, your team stands around looking at it while the cpu opponent is the first to react. Even if its the opponent who caused the ball to fumble around, they still get to it first. Its so annoying.

Also, is it just me, or is everyones team completely inept on the defensive end. I swear with all the cheese, the biggest reason i lose is because my team wont play defense. They completely lose there matchups, and they cant keep their man in front of them, and they DO NOT play help defense, plus they tend to sag off good shooters too much.

Got a 10 day with the Nuggets and first game with only a Level 4-5 athlete I pull down 10 rebounds in only a few minutes. Looks like he gonna be a glass cleaner once he gets upgraded even more.
