Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
As I've posted before, you guys really should try playing with the two contact sliders -- inside shot contact frequency and driving contact frequency -- on zero and see if the number of fouls called changes for you. I play with the foul sliders on zero and average more than 20 free throw attempts a game. I had one game where I had 30 free throw attempts and the CPU had 25 free throw attempts -- on default foul sliders.
My theory, as stated previously, is that the game is programmed to let a lot of fouls go when the contact animations are canned. By lowering the contact sliders, you significantly reduce the amount of canned contact animations and get more organic ones instead, forcing the game to recognize those as fouls.
Try it out and see if you can get similar results.
Also, remember that just like in the real NBA, most shooting fouls are called while driving in the paint, so you have to be aggressive in your penetration to draw the fouls. You won't get a call every single time, so don't worry about it being a bail out for easy points. But if the CPU legitimately interferes with you getting off a clean shot without actually blocking or altering the shot, then chances are the call will go your way.
I officially subscribe to this theory. I read it around a week ago in the other thread. I have since played most of my games at 0 for driving and inside contact. More fouls called on both sides of the ball. Also as an added bonus, it looks and feels way more like basketball. Not nearly as many animations where I just stop dead and pick up my dribble, or animations where there would be a foul called.
I get why 2K have those bad animations and it's to make up for poor ai, but it's terrible. Guys just don't body check like that in the NBA. If they do there will be a foul called 100% of the timeComment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
I didn't see any difference in either direction. IMO it's just broken at the moment.
And I wouldn't suggest anyone putting the layup/jumpshot defense strength to 0. All I saw was contested jumpers/lay ups go in at the highest frequency I've ever seen them.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
I'm not sure exactly if this was already posted as I haven't had a chance to read through every page but I found that when you drive the lane if you don't hold turbo and just go for layups you draw fouls a bit more often then holding turbo. Doing this my PG in Mc went to the line 14 times my last game played. It's still not as much as I think it should be but it helped a bit with foul callsComment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
I managed to improve my drawing foul technique and seems to be averaging 20+ fta per game. The problem is that the cpu doesn't attack the paint as hard as i do and doesn't reach that average specially with teams relying the most on jumpers. Even if attack the basket slider is at 100. The only solution is to autofoul them several times in the paint per game. You do so by pressing L1+R1. I had a game where i shot 24 free throws and the cpu 27 by doing so. I have raised all players foul, draw foul and commit foul tendency. Inside contact and driving contact is at 100.
It isn't possibly to time their shot attempts every time by autofouling so you have to take several silly fouls sometimes outside of the paint. It leads to you commiting much more fouls a game than the cpu in order for both to reach around similar FTA. This seems unfortunately like the only solution.
Im also gonna try to raise all power forwards and centers contest shot tendency so everyone is around 80-100. If you raise perimiter players contest shot tendency it might be to hard to make jumpers. Higher contest shot tendency might lead to more fouls inside the paint. I feel it's too easy for both the cpu and me to score inside the paint probaly 45-50 percent of the points are inside the paint as average. Real numbers are around 40 percent for most teams wile only some are close to 50 percent.
Changing players defensive IQ, On ball defense IQ and post defense IQ as some suggested leads to an arcade game where the paint is wide open and both teams can score inside at will. I'v tried that and got 32 fta but one of the reasons was that the pace of the game was much higher because of the lacking defense from both me and the cpu. I had 94 FGA and the Cpu 100. Without messing with these settings i have realistic numbers with both me and cpu in the 80's at average. I'm not even sure the settings had an effect it might only have been that both teams could attack the paint at will and that resulting in more FTA.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
As the poster above says, Im starting to think a primary cause is that the CPU rarely attacks the hoop and prefers to pull up for Js. I can usually get 20 FTA a game because I attack the hoop with Ellis/Chandler/Parsons/Wright/Harris.
This pull up J tendency seems to me to be somewhat hardcoded in.Comment

I haven't tested strength yet but I think this plays a role this year too with fouls and the body up animation which happens to much even if you are starting your fast break. I may have to do a roster change because if it works like I think it does, I don't want Arron brooks bullying people. I would probably just edit all attack guards and superstars that can draw fouls on a 80-90 scale.... But like I said, I have to do some testing first.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
One problems is that cpu takes too many pull up shots from close range instead of attacking the basket with default slider settings att 50 for close shot tendency. I have close shot tendency at 15 and there's definetily an improvement. They kick out more for 3pointers and it reduces PIP and increases FTA since once they attempt shots in the paint they will mainly try to get to the basket. There's also too many mid range shots on default slider settings for cpu shooting tendencies. Many people fail to realize that the high PIP numbers are because few fouls are called. It's not because the CPU attacks the basket too much.
I wonder if changing slider attribute for strength leads to more foul calls have anyone tried that?Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
Don't get me wrong. This is a good game minus a couple of glitches here and there, this game is enjoyable.
However I've come across an issue; an issue that's really been in every 2K I've played.
The refs do not blow their whistles. And it would be fine if they at LEAST called a shooting fouls twice every quarter for both the ai and human. However, you'll be lucky if you even get one.
In the NBA last season, the lowest FT attempts by team was 20 and that was the Knicks. Kevin Durant averaged 10 free throws by him self. Demar Derozan averaged 8.
So I decided to do a test. I tried it out 3 different times with 6 different teams.
I played on Superstar, Simulation. However, I changed some sliders. I put all the fouls up on both user and cpu, changed the CPU "Attack the basket" tendency all the way to 100. Put " Shoot midrange" and "Shoot 3 Point" tendency to Zero. Also put "contest shots frequency"for both cpu and user all the way to 100.
I only, however, started to actually record notes of the issue in the 2nd quarter a game where the Hawks were playing the Raptors. I was the Raptors. I decided to start tallying how many times both teams went to the basket and fouls were called at about the 5th minute of the second quarter. I kept note ONLY ON CONTACT ANIMATIONS SHOTS
Both teams ended up going to the line for a combined amount of 10 times. They however drew a contact animation 83 times.
That is a serious problem. Don't know if that can be patched but to go to bucket that many times and only get the whistle blew 10 times?
That's a serious problem. For those of you guys who are able to draw fouls and cpu is also drawing fouls, please share your secret.

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
Yep it sure is. You have to pretty much do a over haul of the sliders and rosters to counter act some of the hard-codedeness. For example. Attack gurds and wings should have their moving close and mid on a 0-5 scale. They may still pull up but it's rare, which is good. The tendency that I don't like is moving close shot. At first I thought this would trigger the floater for the CPU but it doesn't. The CPU always seem to pull up for the close jumper. When I set it at 0, the CPU will attack the basket after he beats me. Also you want to have on-ball defense slider pretty low. This will make it easier for the CPU to get pass you, creating the draw and kick game or even fouls at the basket.
Before I start my league Ill do this to the 20 or so guards who really rely on this. It was starting to suck seeing Wall, Westbrook and lawson be jump shooters.
I didnt see an uptick in fouls, so next Ill test by lowering the strength slider.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
Probably not new to anyone but had to record this. Few years into myleague if wondering. Just incase video doesnt show below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrHw...ature=youtu.be

First thing I thought of was what if this was real life. Poor Noel would be drinking from a straw for the rest of his life.
But every missed/interrupted dunk animation is a extremely hard foul(from what ive played. Normally hands clip through the players almost like a intended flagrant foul or something. Wish it was something we could fix with sliders.Comment
