Player | On Ball | Off Ball | Screen | Hedge

    Irving | Tight | Moderate | ICE | None
    Smith | Tight | Moderate | ICE | None
    James | Moderate | Moderate | ICE | None
Love | Tight | Tight | SWITCH | Hard Hedge
Mozgov | Moderate | Gap | SWITCH | Hard Hedge

This is how I start off against the Cavs and here's my reasoning.

First, each one can give you 20 points a night. With Irving, I decide to play him tight because I rather him beating me with 2s instead of 3s. I play the moderate on him because he will cut back door or can catch and shoot. Staying neutral is my strategy versus him.

With JR I'm more afraid of his shooting than driving. He gets the same treatment as Kyrie for the same reasons.

Lebron I play off a bit more as I want him to take jumpers but still want to be close enough to get a hand up.

Love likes to stand around the 3 point line and gas. With him being a big, I'm not afraid of him going back door and his kick out 3s hurt more than a 2 point bucket so I stick to him. If for some reason he calls for a screen and roll I'm switching that. Never seen it happen but if it comes it will come from one of the front court positions.

Mozgov gets all the garbage buckets so I don't consider him a threat in the offense. With him I'm worried about offensive rebounds or a lob. Isn't Akeem on the block so I'm not afraid to send single at him. Willing to live with him beating me.

When you play the Cavs you have to really be flexible as like I said earlier, any one of these dudes can go off. You may have to change most of this up immediately but the flow of the game should let you know what tweaks to be made. All of the adjustments I made are pregame. Making pregame adjustments helps save time during timeouts.

Going to play a game with Indy versus the Cavs right now with these settings. Good luck with defeating CLE tho, they're tough.

Thanks! Ill try this out later. Usually kyrie really gives me a hard time when he starts to drive inside and draw fouls. Then when he's hot, he always went to shoot consecutive jumpers to which i need to adjust from time to time lebron i usually can handle with george or just live or die by his outside jumpers hibbert and dwest can handle inside and it seems jr smith and shumpert (cpu controlled) are inconsistent in offense

        Thanks again!

I was killed last night by Kyrie - 48 points. He can do everything really really well.

Hey man, I've been a player for years, ever since 2K7. I loved played NBA Street Vol 2 on my PS2 but I wasn't a bball fan at that time, really. I'd say around 2K10-ish I started playing how I play now. I just experiment with the playbook and run the shot clock. I often find myself taking bail out shots because of a play being broken, or an on ball defender moving all over the place, etc. I spend the majority of my time playing offline in MyLeague. Fixate over a team, love it, hate it, move on, repeat.

So a question for me I suppose is: What's the best way to take a slow paced offense online against the turbo kids?

              Try this

My online smart play triangle offense going through the PG. The guy I beat here loves playing super fast and gambles a lot on Defense. You can see how I slowly grounded him into submission with my smart play triangle ^_^

                ^ That's a really good video.

"There is no cheese just superior or inferior techniques" I think that would be the only way to approach quick ranked games as a sim player.

                  Triying to stop Paul George

Hi everyone. Just a follower of "SimNation tendencies" with a quick question : - How do you stop/contain Paul George? Curiously, not being perhaps one the premier players, this guy is being almost unstoppable for me (I am playing HOF Simulation level MYGM with Golden State Warriors). I was doing ok with OKC's Westbrook and Durant for example, who theoretically are more difficult players but Paul George is killing me in The Finals (1-3 down). I've been triying differents players (Iguodala, Thompson, even Curry) and tactics (tighter, more space...). Perphaps is something with my style of play or him not being good match for Golden State Warriors roster. Any ideas? BTW, thanks everyone in SimNation specially Sam Pham, your videos are outstanding. Regards and thanks in advance

How exactly is he killing you? Have you tried doubling on the catch just to get the ball out of his hands?

Just wanted to thanks to Sam Pham and Jersez for the great on the ball defense videos. They helped big time after patch 4 hit and I realized I was really bad at defense. There is a lot of great advice in this thread but the videos are priceless.

Game 1 eastern semis vs cavs. I was able to match up good against the cavs for the first 3 quarters and until the first 6 minutes of the 4th when i was up by 9. But suddenly lebron and kyrie took over, plus mosgov killed us with putbacks! I lost by 8. I even prepared for this playoff matchup as i traded for oladipo before the deadline (i forgot the trade details but i got the better end of the deal but i lost lots of future picks here hehe)

                                What adjustments did you make?

Remember the days we complained about stars not being stars? 2K heard us loud and clear on that one haha. Shutting down him and Lebron both in the same game is the toughest (and most enjoyable task) I've attempted this year in 2K. Even if I win its an escape.

                                Good luck in the series.
