Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
No worries, we got you!Yeah. If he is in iso I want to adjust my body so that he basically has wide open space to the rim or 'make him' go baseline with my body. Sorry for poor explanation, english is my third language and don't know all bball lingo.
I mean I want to make my defender rotate his body slightly to the side so if he, e.g., wants to drive right I can easily strip him but I leave space for him to drive left because that's where I left the space.
When I get home I'll play around with the left stick and L2 and give you a definitive answer. But to give you some clarity. . . you are correct, the rick stick no longer lets you hedge left or right. I have no idea why this was removed in the first place?
I think it left stick while pressing the side you'd like to hedge and L2. Your player should turn his hips at that moment. I'll double check when I get home for you but hedging still can be triggered in 2K15.Comment

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
No, sir.
Also, feathering the left stick is key for more control but also make sure you utilize feathering Turbo.
Example: Go around pick and roll without turbo and read defense. Defender goes, pull back without turbo and step back for the jumper. Defender goes over, press turbo as you past the screen for an explosion to the basket. Defender goes over and is able to beat you to that predetermined spot once you "explode"...He is most likely attempted to catch up to you so momentum is on your side. Release turbo and step back, bobby jack mid-range splash
Most people do not know how to get Chris Paul or Steph Curry to move and play how they play because they are constantly pressing Turbo. That's now how these guys plays in real life... Save that for Westbrook.Last edited by Nevertheles109; 03-26-2015, 04:04 PM.Comment

Right stick now 'nudges' player slightly but I don't really use that. It could be left stick.

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
zig zag cheese is pretty unstoppable, as the offensive player can just stop on a dime whenever he wants, we'll have to wait for 2k to fix this hopefully it's gone in 2k16. However what you can do is back off of them and only use the RS for hands up, you have to anticipate when they'll shoot so don't gamble. Backing off of them will give you the angle to stop drives, and as they begin to shoot you want to close out on them with Hands up to effect the shot. This doesn't work all the time as shots will drop but it's better than nothing. Thanks man, appreciate it. I've already watched both of those videos several times and I'm sure thatthey're helpful to others as they were to me. I do okay against the CPU and sim players, but struggle against guys who do who constantly do what they do in this youtube video. I realise that this is an old video, just couldn't find a better example on youtube. But online against someone like Steph Curry, it's almost impossible to stay in front of them with the lag. I right-stick contest most layups and shots as well, but when I'm a bit out of position they've got enough space to get their shot of. And it's very frustrating that it takes a lot of effort to combat a tactic that's so easy to execute.
You just have to read and react to the offensive post players movements, Press the LS in the direction of his move so you can counter it or to contest the shot. Using hands up helps too.
Best thing to do is to not gamble, don't go for on ball steals just put yourself in position to contest shots. If you're not constantly getting beat which makes your teammates rotate all the time, they can't set their feet which will lead to open shots. Just my two cents when I stick to the coaches gameplan my team seems to play better on offense and defense. This question is tough to answer because Idk I haven't seen you play. What are some suggestions on defense in MC? I've gotten my offense to play consistently by calling plays, getting/keeping team chemistry high and having certain badges but I can't get them to play consistent defense. I have the 'Defensive Anchor' badge, they play a bit better on D but they don't play it consistently.
From what I've been working on it seems timing is the most important fact instead of method to block shots, try to time the shot when the ball is exposed or right before it's released. I use a mixture of Triangle(Y) and R2+triangle.
Shading is still in the game, you just have to position yourself to force them baseline, i have a directional defense video that I'm working on now actually you can check out a sneak peak here at 6:06 and go into settings so the defender automatically goes into this stance when he's in proper positionSpoiler<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NaWtL7G-rX4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
No, you can practice this and get a feel for it yourself you won't walk all over the place.
Hopefully my answers helped some of you guys, I'm not a dev and I don't work for 2k I just play their game and I get cussed out by Czar occasionally, maybe another dev will sneak their head into here and correct me if I'm wrong on anything.Last edited by jersez; 03-26-2015, 04:58 PM.ARE YOU LOOKING FOR YOUTUBE CHANNELS DEDICATED TO THE SIM COMMUNITY CLICK THE LINKS BELOW, AND SUBSCRIBE FOR ALL SIM CONTENT.

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
From what I have tested on, the most effective manner to challenge shots is to hold intense D and jump with triangle/y. I think JerseyReign said this too.
One thing I do want to add is that right stick just isn't a good option because there seems to be a delay in control input. If you click jump the responsiveness is very good; however with right stick it isn't always a sure thing.

On what controller settings? We play manual contest and I'm wondering how that applies here. From what I have tested on, the most effective manner to challenge shots is to hold intense D and jump with triangle/y. I think JerseyReign said this too.

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
Yes. If I hit triangle though it's almost assured I'll give up the offensive rebound if I miss the block.
At what moment do you hit triangle? I missed the timing aspect.
Do you also contest perimeter shots exactly the same? Or is this paint only?

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
I know you didn't ask me, but I do perimeter that way. I find that trying to contest perimeter with just hands straight up is useless, because there's no close out against the shot and the hands are so delayed they sometimes never go up.Yes. Mostly the only time I use hands up is with a big defending a shot on the low block. It's true sometimes it gets called a foul even with no foul contact, but a lot of times jumping to block that far down low leads to more fouls, at least for me.Comment

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
Any one figure out how to manually ice the ball handler? I try to use this methed to body up side to side cheesers at park. But only seems to be possible in the context of a pick being set. And even then its difficult to master. Ik the animation is in the game but i can rarely get it to work for my user controlled defenders.Your playing checkers, and im playing chess-Comment

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
Could someone give an in-depth explanation of all the offensive moves you can do when the defender is crowding you? I usually just press y to enter a post up and face up to get out of it, but I've seen some videos of people facing up without posting up(And getting space that way takes forever). I can't practice it because I only have one controller right now. Any tips on this will be greatly appreciated, I'm trying to get my Kobe on in MyCareer

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
Ah Sorry Coach I was talking perimeter only ^_^ If you are talking help side big I do something more complicated. I will bring the help defender all the way into the driving offensive player and then I will switch to the other big to box out. In short, I get the Strongside big into great help position then I let him be and switch to weakside big to get the rebound or challenge any dump off passes. I hope that makes sense.Yes. If I hit triangle though it's almost assured I'll give up the offensive rebound if I miss the block.

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
There are crowded offensive moves similar to triple threat jab steps. A rip thru for drives by tapping left stick towards pivot foot, this move is vulnerable to strip of defender times it right. You can also nudge your defender of you to get space for a fade or pump fake do this by tapping right stick to ward defender. Fake passes can help as well, and posting is a valad option. But my go to is the step back dribble excape holding R2 i think and fliking stick back. Very use full in face up bigman game with gasols andrandolph/milsap types vs a hands up post defender. Excape pullups tap square plus hold direction on left stick. They are great within 15 feet a you can up n under them. Halph spin dribble moves are all things i use when being crowded in a solo. Now if its not a solo you can use the crowder to your advanage by having a teamate cut off you! Think pinch post cut from triangle or post splits.Could someone give an in-depth explanation of all the offensive moves you can do when the defender is crowding you?
