Re: Getting rid of auto dribbling moves would make ballhandling and on ball defense m
I bet it's something that would take some time to get used to, no doubt about that but the fact that the left stick intereferes with the right stick always bothered me. I feel like like it also adds input lag on the right stick at times.Comment

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me, movement with the left and ball handling/control with the right.
@24th - What needs to be "tightened"?
Oh, and I tweeted this to Beluba anyway because on Twitter, (in my Cartman voice) you don't know me, I do what I want haha.#WashedGamerComment

I still have the demo on my 360, but I don't have the means to record it...maybe ill try and do some cell phone footage.
It's hard to explain honestly...I put a great deal of time into the dribbling on the demo (even though the rest of the game was awful), mostly because it's something I asked for...and it just never felt right..
When I say 'tightened' Jersey, I mean that foot planting and momenteum should have more of an effect...Comment

Why do people insist on breaking things that aren't broken?Comment

Re: Getting rid of auto dribbling moves would make ballhandling and on ball defense m
I think it's a good idea also changing directions too many times should result in animation where the ball handler might lose track of the ball or dribble off the foot or something. If defensive movement can't be improved then handicap the offensive movements with animations so people think twice about trying to zig zag cheese.Last edited by ForeverVersatile; 05-27-2015, 09:31 AM.PSN: ForeverVersatile

Only reason 2K is so good and different from most other yearly sports game is because the devs are never satisfied with what they have. Sometimes it can backfire a bit though, I would agree with that.Comment

IMO The ONLY things that needs to be changed with the Dribbling is the ridiculous "walk-up" animations that take you halfway up the sideline without control of your player, and all of the other prolonged "Animations" that you can't get out of...how REMOVING control from the player because people can't play defense online helps this game going forward is beyond me...Last edited by Shady Mike; 05-27-2015, 09:31 AM.Comment

+1
I don't play online so that's not my problem, but simply adding realistic physics and footplanting fixes that.
And I have no problem with that, I just think the proposed idea was terrible.

I'd rather have different walk up animations than have a stale game with no animations. All they have to do is make breakable.Last edited by ForeverVersatile; 05-27-2015, 09:39 AM.PSN: ForeverVersatile

How is it removing control ? The control scheme is just different, in no way that would remove control from the player.Comment

Re: Getting rid of auto dribbling moves would make ballhandling and on ball defense m
Moving the ball from one hand to the other should require the user to use the right stick. Being able to switch hands and do dribbling moves with just the left stick is unrealistic and is the main culprit of the infamous zigzag.
If they wanted to add a badge that allows elite ballhandlers to do cross overs and other dribble moves with just the left stick i would be for that. But to allow a person to dribble around holding turbo and simply switch hands while changing directions with the left stick is problematic.
Right stick only dribbling would also make the matchup between the ballhandler and the on balk defender fairer and more realistic.
Implementing this in conjunction with limiting the dribble animations of non elite ball handlers would balance the game and cut down on the overpowered offense in this game.Comment

Re: Getting rid of auto dribbling moves would make ballhandling and on ball defense m
No that's adding control. It's your decision as a player to move the ball from either hand with the right stick rather than it's automatically done while controlling your player's direction with the left stick.
So that's actually the opposite of removing control.Comment

Re: Getting rid of auto dribbling moves would make ballhandling and on ball defense m
Can you currently switch hands with the right stick? Yes
If they were to release a game where you can ONLY do it with the right stick that would be removing control.
That said, I'm not going back and forth on this I digress. Like I said earlier zig-zagging is the result of poor physics / foot planting...and it's something that absolutely needs to be addressed...but changing the control scheme because of a movement issue (Or lack of movement on defense) is asinine. They said they are focusing on player movement so hopefully it's something that can be fixed. This is a poor suggestion IMO that I'm confident that 2K (thankfully) won't take seriously. Take Care.Comment

Re: Getting rid of auto dribbling moves would make ballhandling and on ball defense m
Thats the old system Vni and I'd say most prefer what it is now.
Animations here could be more simplified to work better honestly.
@ Jersey lol i wish i could give you control of my ps3 because i still have the demo and i played the finished game. It was a mess imo.
Imagine doing a move to you right but dribbling with your left hand in front of the defender at the same time on the drive. Its ugly as 24th said cumbersome and not worth the years of transition and complaining and reward or lack of it let alone additional issues it would cause.
They should be able to figure out zigzag online another way.Comment
