used to complain about this all the time it was frustrating, but I started working on my Dribble Game, and the funny thing is when I get to the cup constantly on the AI they start the triple team stuff or start playing on ball D. One thing that helps is that there are a lot of Fouls called and that forces them to change up their strategy, most time you see the off ball percentage before you play and you can kinda figure out how it's going to go. I understand the frustration though, but my answer is to play scrimmage learn how to beat the CPU AI effectively and take what you learned online.

I think we can all agree that playing off-ball defense is easier than playing on-ball defense so basically as an off-ball defender you're taking the easy way out

Also it's easy to shoot on computer defense because they don't really guard up so with the way shooting is after the patch you can come down and just shoot all day SPLASH lol I don't have a problem winning against an off-ball defender it's jus more fun playing against someone who plays on-ball

No doubt @ NorthPhillyFis I gotten so used to OFF ballers through the years , I actually prefer if they play off Ball (LOL). The thing that irks me is when I do a good pump fake they bite , I move around and they recover to Jump into me so I miss an easy Layup

My point was it's more than just on ball and off ball defending. If those were the only way you would categorize things I would be an off ball defender simply because by sticking with one man I am not guarding the man with the ball most of the time no matter which position I guard.

What cracks me up is when I throw to the player they guarding off ball they switch again. Defense isn't glamorized so ppl shun it and look only at offense and 2k caters to that now. Its sad because I don't get online for the computer to guard me. I understand if u see a play I'm running and u switch to stop the pass or something but don't camp out on a big man all game its too easy. All ppl want are wins nowadays integrity, pride. And being proud of accomplishments is long gone and its sad

It's not even that defense isn't glamorous it's every time they try to play on-ball defense they get chopped up to avoid getting killed they let the CPU handle that lol

All of you on-ball-D-nazis have a simple solution: online human multiplayer, no CPU. You have a problem with NEEDING a human to guard your player right? Well mypark, 2k pro-am or teamup is the obvious solution if you care so much about this aspect of the game.

2k needs to actually make it appealing and rewarding for defense. In 2k15 its like The ball is stuck like glue to a players hand. U can rarely get a steal. And then on top of the I can perfectly time a pass to steal my player is there and he simply doesn't extend his arms 3 more inches to grab the ball. The game is ridiculous. 2k14 steal system was way better. And overall defense was too

Yeah because ppl pay to play online against the computer. Man up like u would at a real park. Test yourself. Enjoy the game and make it challenging a bit. I get annoyed with off ball players because its often too easy to out smart them and games are no comp nor fun

Either way is fine its just a preference thing. The only issue i have is the poor passing on 2k allows guys to poach the passing lanes unrealistically. Other then the turnovers fro. Poaching the passing lanes, i have no problem with off ball.

Even when I play offline with friends, its an unsaid rule that you have to play onball defence

No offense to people that don't do it, but I think its an obvious cop out to play offball almost 100% of the time. Of course people switch players if they want to go for a pass steal, or get a player in position for a rebound or to deny entry into the paint etc.

But if you're just the centre the whole possession just sitting there letting the CPU guard the other player while you wait to get the rebound, you're not doing anything. Just my 2 cents

My opinion: Off ball defense is cheap. If I wanted to play against the AI I would've done so. I don't care about the occasional switch off to jump in front of a pass from a set you've seen a few times but that "wandering" defender stuff annoys me in a sim game. If guys play me in a sim environment thats the only "rule" I actually care to follow.

Offball defense is also the reason I laugh at the sim community who want online ranked matches to be HOF Sim. I don't think they see the issue with a overrated AI opponent AND a unrealistic player just playing safety. I mean, its almost like that safety user in Madden who can run around aimlessly and chase down whomever he wants and still be able to cover his deep zone.

I played an online quick rank of Cavs Vs T'Wolves

My opponent was on Mozgov the entire time

Pekovic should have scored more points, finishing @the rim for a bigmen in general is horrible this where offball defense is rewarded

off ball D destroys the game, is a fraud and bingeing . if I play online does not want to play against the cpu , I want to play against another person!

I am personally a member of the league online in Poland and one of our most important rule is to defend on the ball ! I think the solution to this situation would be to promote 2k defense on the ball and decreased IQ players hiding cpu players with the ball or just simple boost ON ball Defense!
