Re: MyLeague Online Discussion (Great dev post kickoff)

Damn this is crazy! I've been heavy into leagues since 2K10 but I never knew these type of websites existed. To see how deep you guys went with it is crazy. From 2k11-2k14 we had our Facebook group website to keep everyone updated (owners trade talks, hot/losing streaks, playoff picture, owner rivalries ect...) but nothing like this. I hope it comes back in the future so I can utilize it myself. Guys like Amedawg, king Jackson, Levar and Ataman I guess we're running leagues in 2k9. At that time, I was playing offball and putting the turbo in a headlock just to score, but 10 is where I learned the ways of "Sim" and I haven't turned back since. This is also my 1st year running 12 minute quarters. I was in a party with Amedawg not too long ago, (don't know if he remembers) and was telling him those 1 hour long games are just too much and I didn't have the time and he telling me "it's not sim or real if you don't run 12s." Now running a season on 12s, I won't even look back on running 10s or lower. Hope I can run with some of you guys in the future [emoji817][emoji817][emoji817]

Re: MyLeague Online Discussion (Great dev post kickoff)

Off to top of my head; (I may not explain this as i would in english, if so sorry beforehand) That's a direct question to Devs either Erick or Aslanoglou,

There have been years that i'm trying to figure out a way of making a bridge between console data to pc's and then applying to my own site etc. etc.

I believe that there are some workarounds/queries that work for CCM in Madden OL where you basically can make your moves ingame thru websites outsourced.

So i would love to know for future ideas if there could be any way of getting a developper app widget (API) to make the data acquired by our own websites and archive with that and infrastructure i have with my own site i can get all League Data to my site and even after the serie lets say (2k13-14-15) or older is done by i could still have all on my own stats archived etc.

I mean this is not that hard but ofcourse the infrastructure and its safety over 2k is whole lot important to make this work.

I hope i'm clear enough here; would love to expad on this idea. By that i mean it's not that easily applicable but OL website application won't have to hold on 2k servers itself and let people have them on.

Well it's a barebone idea yet i don't know. We ofcourse always welcome a 2k app/website to get thru for OL mode and stats make moves on the fly.

I'm saying this because i remember that there is huge amount of data stored in 2k10/11 OL server side and these were hindering 2k to serve better Online service back in time yet we still don't have that better online service but again that's not my intention hopefully we will this year.

If users can jump in during a season at anytime to take control over a cpu team in my league, & u can create/ edit/ download or even add created players in the upcoming draft for the upcoming season after you guys finish the previous season then I'll be overly satisfied

Back in 2k10 i remember that at work and i was checking the site regulary if there is any matches going live (i could have reset games from the site if it's dropped and you could stil have dropped stats to be tracked over on), and that Live Recap was so great at times now we have twitch etc but then there was also much more analyze ability with the stats tracking incredibly, even double double, triple double of the opponent coaches players are tracked of, hot zones of the team of the players, all percentages. Incredible.

I was nuts working the opponent going thru the Playoffs time if you know what i mean. I was like ok i should get Jason Terry to only shoot from left side etc, that much of a detailed craziness were possible with that site man!!!!

Fun times for maniacs like us.

I've owned every NBA 2K game & this is terrible information, my thoughts? .. The mode will be made just maybe OK. On the other hand Leftos is here to communicate with us so I'm quite pleased about that. I don't understand how is it that 2K can have OA in 2K12... do a pretty darn good job at it .. and then just totally blows it in the following years. No salary cap, no injuries (really?), you already know I could go on and on but I'll just say this... September 25, 2016 (assuming preorder bonus) NBA 2K16 Online Leagues SHOULD have full offseason with the ability to perform trades, and see player progressions etc, NBA Draft (first 2K Adam Silver draft), 3 team trades, end of season stats MVP etc. Now what about this ... Once All Star weekend arrives you take part in the festivities if you happen to be a contestant. 3PT contest, dunk contest but when it's time for actual games such as All Star game you'd all participate in a Team Up game. Personally Team Up is my favorite mode with OA coming in 2nd. What do you think about this idea and post what features should return in 2K16, because this ain't the year!.

Just a general thought here but...

I remember that when 360/PS3 generation came along everything was more about online. Every game was way more played in their online modes and so on. In those days I saw the 2k website as something given, nothing too fancy.

But now it seems to me incredible that we had that, and I get the feeling that nowadays there's not such a strong online community in console gaming in general. Probably some of the hardcore folks went to PC or are stuck in shooters.

To me it seems there are just more people playing the MyCareer, MyPark, quickmatch. These modes are probably more popular than offline modes and online association/MyLeague. They run their numbers and see which people are playing the majority of modes. There also seems to be some complex coding that goes on just to get online association functional which has pushed people away from online associations because they made it barebones and mainly a IKEA like. The commish or league has to do build the league themselves and handle all the offseason stuff on their own.

The complexity of the architecture and coding for the OA mode has clearly been a challenge that 2k has fell short in comparison to the Madden and MLB The Show fully featured online franchises. But to the point many seem to make about the supposed developer neglect of the mode coinciding with the popularity of the "My" modes on next gen can be debated. I always use the chicken and egg analogy pertaining to which came first? Glitch and bug ridden OL/OA platforms that led to a mass exodus of the community or said community members simply losing interest and deciding to play the vastly superior and properly resourced "My" modes at the formers expense, and thus leading to skewed metrics and reports about the modes popularity.

Leftos had an interesting take on this theory below in a previous OA/OL related thread a few months ago. It's not surprising that I wholeheartedly agree with the assessment below. Given how far the mode regressed; that the metrics being poor would be a self fulfilling prophecy.

Do you count users when something is broken only to justify not maintaining it because it makes your life easier? No, hell no. I wouldn't "allow" that as a community member, never mind do it as a developer. The problem is when something had really low usage when it was great; that's when the userbase kind of forces a dev's hand to focus on other things, especially given a yearly cycle. It's really disappointing to work on a feature really excitedly over the year, spending days, weeks, months on it, only to notice that a handful of people used it, and most of the userbase never gave it a second glance. That's not to say there's absolutely no room for niche features, it's only to say there's limited room/time/resources for them, but we still want to please the most hardcore of you/us out there, in hopes some of the less hardcore people pick up on a feature or two, enjoy it, and have it become mainstream.
